Observations:

November 2015 – Just when we had graduated Mr. Strome, he goes and gets himself demoted again for his indifferent play. Regardless of the "indifferent play" – it was 12 games into the season and he got five points for the Isles. At this point in their career, players should be allowed to play through those rough patches. It remains to be seen if this setback hurts his confidence or if he is strong enough mentally to beat it and thrive. Dobber

May 2015 – Strome completed his first full NHL season with 50 points in 81 games, and followed that up with four points in seven hard fought games against Washington. 50 points should at least be expected from Strome every year in the NHL. Only 21, Strome will be a great player for years to come, and a must own for keeper leagues. Pat Quinn

February 2015 – Skating on a line with Anders Lee and Casey Cizikas, Ryan Strome has enjoyed good success in his first full season with the Islanders. Sporting a stat line of nine goals and 34 points through 43 games, Strome has received opportunities on the Islanders' top powerplay unit and we are starting to see his future upside. Strome is a must-own in keeper leagues. Brendan Ross

October 2014 – Unlike a year ago, this time around Strome will be on the Islanders' opening night roster. He beat out Anders Lee for the final forward postion. Brad Wilson

September 2014 – Monitor Isles camp or this spot carefully this season. It is looking more and more like Strome could be on the outside of a numbers crunch. If this happens he will no doubt start the year in Bridgeport. He does not belong in the AHL and the hope is that the team will find a way to get their young star into the lineup. It will be interesting to see where he lines up in camp. Don't rule out a move to the wing and or a trade to make space. Brad Wilson

May 2014 – Strome finished his first NHL season with 18 points in 37 games. He played mostly a third line role but is definitely more suited to second line minutes. Look for Strome to play a bigger role for the Isles in 2014-15. Brad Wilson

April 2014 – After playing just 37 games in the AHL this season, Strome has been named to the AHL 2014 All Rookie Team. Brad Wilson

March 2014 – There is no doubt Strome is the Isles future second line center, he has all the tools and just needs to grow into the role. During his recent stint in the bigs since his call-up post-Olympic break, Strome has seen a limited role as the third line pivot between two checkers. His limited point production to this point (13 points in 28 games) is a direct result. Although it is rather strange that he hasn't been moved up the lineup like fellow rookies, Nelson and Lee (especially with Tavares gone for the season) his 49 points in 37 AHL games show, this kid is the real deal. It's only a matter of time before we see it. Brad Wilson

February 2014 – Strome centered the third line in his first game back with the big club. He was 42.9% (3/7) on faceoffs and managed an assist on Lee's second goal of the night which sent the game to overtime. The Isles' top prospect was a plus-1 with four shots on goal in 14:04 of ice time. Brad Wilson

February 2014 – As expected, Strome was re-called from Bridgeport at the conclusion of the Olympic break. What was unexpected is that the Isles actually called up the entire first line from the Sound Tigers. Strome has clearly been too good for the AHL and will benefit from having at least one familiar face on his wing in an NHL jersey. He centered Lee and McDonald in his first practice back with the big club. Brad Wilson

February 2014 – When the Islanders sent Strome down to Bridgeport prior to reaching his max NHL games before becoming eligible for waivers, they also put the rookie in line to represent the AHL in the Allstar game versus Sweden's Farjestad BK. Strome netted two goals in the game and posted a plus-1 on the way to a 7-2 AHL victory. Brad Wilson

January 2014 – It may not have sat well with Islanders fans when Strome was loaned to their AHL team but the young gun himself hasn't skipped a beat. Since returning to a Sound Tigers jersey, Strome has potted seven points in six games (as of this writing). While it looks like an NHL third line center role is in the immediate future after this years emergence of Neilson, Strome has the tools to eventually take a top six spot. Continue to cross your fingers that the Islanders brass stay the course with the youngsters development. Brad Wilson

January 2014 – Strome has been sent down to the Sound Tigers of the AHL. The rookie had been carving out a home with the big club but the Isles want Strome to be able to play during the Olympic break. If he was to play any more NHL games he would not be eligible to be loaned to Bridgeport during the stoppage. Brad Wilson

January 2014 – Strome has been settling in and getting more and more comfortable in an Islanders jersey. He has quietly put up one goal and four points in his 13 games thus far while centering the third line. Strome continues to show why he is the Islanders number one prospect. Brad Wilson

December 2013 – Strome played his first game in the NHL on Dec 14th against the Canadiens. He centered the third line between Nelson and Clutterbuck and produced two shots on goal in 14:42 of ice time. Strome also logged 3:43 of power play time. Keep expectations in check, but this is just the beginning. Brad Wilson

December 2013 – After notching seven points in the last two games, Strome has been called up to the Islanders. The plan following preseason has been to keep him at center. If that is the case look for him to land on the third line. A move to rightwing would give him oodles more point potential with the ability to move up and down the entire roster. Brad Wilson

December 2013 – Strome had three big points in Bridgeport's 5-3 victory over Utica pushing his team lead to 26. The Sound Tigers had lost six in a row before snapping the funk with a 3-2 win over Hartford on November 29th. They have now won three straight and four of the last five, largely because of the top line centered by Strome. Brad Wilson.

November 2013 – Strome looks to be on track again after a highlight-reel two-goal night. He managed a team record five points in the win. After snapping a five game losing skid, Bridgeport has rolled of a second straight win with Strome adding another assist, his team leading 14th point. Brad WiIson

October 2013 – Strome has been a bit snake bitten since the Sound Tigers' opening weekend. After recording three assists in the first two games, he has been held pointless through the last two. To his credit, Strome has fired a team leading 15 shots on net and his playmaking ability only continues to improve. While centering the top line flanked by Anders Lee, it is only a matter of time before the pucks start going in and the points start to accumulate. Strome is a patient kid with his sights set on developing into a full time NHL'er. The future remains bright for the 20-year-old. Brad Wilson

October 2013 – Strome was finally delegated to the AHL’s Sound Tigers at the NHL roster deadline. He received quite a bit of ice time on the right wing but Islander brass think he needs a little time in the minors. Don’t rule out a call-up at some point. Brad Wilson

September 2013 – Strome has played in two pre-season games thus far and has been slotted in on RW of the second line for both. He has notched an assist with four shots through the two games and saw his best outing last game where he logged 22 minutes of ice time. He received a boost in confidence when he was moved to the Islanders veteran practice roster following his game Sunday. So far the players have been split into two rosters, veterans and rookies. This does not mean he is a lock for the NHL roster this season but it is a huge step in that direction. It appears Strome is ready to make the jump. Brad Wilson

September 2013 – Strome finished his five year OHL career proving he is a step ahead of the pack scoring 268 of his 295 points in his final three seasons. Clearly, junior accolades don’t always translate to the pro game but the fifth overall selection then put up seven points in 10 games for Bridgeport to close the AHL season. Now he looks to convince the New York brass that he can fit in at the NHL level. Strome has elite puck possession skills and the IQ of an above average play maker. The Islanders have tinkered with the idea of moving Strome to RW where they are lacking depth. If this move takes place, Strome could end up as the ying to John Taveres’ yang. If the shift doesn’t come to fruition, Strome has to improve his faceoff skills to the point where he would be a capable NHL center. Training camp will test to see if Strome is really ready for prime time or if he needs a bit more seasoning at the AHL level. Brad Wilson

April 2013 – Ryan Strome was reassigned to Bridgeport of the American Hockey League after his Niagara Ice Dogs were eliminated from OHL post season action. Strome finished sixth in OHL regular season scoring with 34 goals and 94 points in 53 contests. The fourth-year centre of the Ice Dogs added three points in five playoff games.  Look for Strome to make an immediate impact at the AHL level as he attempts to prove himself NHL-ready (or close to it) for next season's New York Islanders. Brendan Ross

February 2013 – After a strong World Junior Championship performance where he posted six points in as many games, Strome was called to Long Island for camp. Surprisingly he was cut rather quickly and did not get a trial in any games. At this point Strome now has 73 points in 42 games, and is catching back up to the top of the OHL scoring race. There are very few reasons that he shouldn’t be included on the Islanders regular roster next season. Jason Banks

December 2012 – Strome will skate on Team Canada's top line at the WJC in Russia. Rich Dillon

December 2012 – Strome was named the OHL Player of the Month (November) after tearing the league up with nine goals and 35 points in 13 monthly games, recording at least one point in each game. Brendan Ross

December 2012 – The OHL's current scoring leader, Ryan Strome, was one of 21 forwards invited to take part in Canada's National Junior Selection camp for the 2013 World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia. He is also one of six potential returnees from the 2012 bronze medal Canadian team. Strome will be one of Canada's most offensively dangerous players and should be among the team scoring leaders throughout the tournament. Brendan Ross

November 2012 – Ryan Strome participated in both 2012 Subway Super Series for Team OHL and earned Player of the Game honours after tallying one goal and an assist in game 4. Strome had a strong showing in the Sarnia game as he used his speed and slick puck skills to control the offense for the OHLers. Brendan Ross

October 2012 – Ryan Strome was named to the 2012 Subway Super Series Team OHL Roster slated to compete in a six-game series versus the Russian National Junior Team in November. Brendan Ross

August 2012 – Quoted from "Report Cards of Canada-Russia Challenge": Strome was the heroic figure as the four-game series came to a close after scoring the overtime winner executing a toe-drag around a sprawled out defender and firing one beyond the Russian tender. Strome displayed his crafty hands and creativity on that play but his game was pretty erratic over the four games. He was awful in the opening game as he continuously coughed up the puck after trying to do too much himself. He remains a valuable asset to own in fantasy leagues but his 5th overall draft status (2011) may have some owners overestimating his upside. I see Strome in a similar mold as Sam Gagner and Nazem Kadri, two very creative forwards that need to play alongside a natural finisher to reach their upside. Luckily for Strome, John Tavares could be that perfect player if Strome eventually moves to the wing. Don’t write Strome off completely as he possesses some filthy offensive skills but I question how well he will be able to translate his game to the next level. Brendan Ross

February 2012 –Ryan Strome became the fourth consecutive forward and third center selected in the  past four first rounds when the Islanders announced his name fifth overall.  The Mississauga native experienced a breakout draft year season improving from 27 points in his rookie season to an impressive 106 points.  Blessed with slick hands and professional offensive vision, Strome is a creative player with a strong competitive drive.  Ryan Strome has missed considerable time in his third OHL season due to facial fractures but has shown his consistent play registering points in all but just a handful of games.  Strome has showcased his strong agile skating ability and his coachable approach to the game has led many to believe his offensive upside is well within grasp. Brendan Ross

Fantasy Outlook:   A

A first-line forward in the making and pretty much a sure thing to get there.
