July 2022 – Plante was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round of the 2022 draft. After scoring 64 points in 22 games and winning the 2022 Minnesota State Championship with Hermantown Highschool, he joined the Chicago Steel and scored ten goals and 21 points in 31 games. The Duluth commit says he models his game after fellow Minnesota native, Jake Guentzel. As one of the youngest players of the draft, his development might be a slow burn but could pay off for the Pens. Kyle Watson
