Zakary Karpa

June 2025 – After completing a four-year stint at Harvard University at the end of the 2024-25 season, the last two seasons as captain, Karpa was signed to a one-year AHL-only contract with the Rangers’ affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. The left-shot center posted only seven points in 31 games for Harvard during the 2024-25 season. Though he was able to earn a pro contract, Karpa has an uphill climb to try to earn a two-way contract with New York in the future. Brendan Ferry

August 2024 – Karpa, not yet signed to an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers, will serve his second year as NCAA captain of the Harvard Crimson during the 2024-25 season. The center posted eight points in 31 games played for Harvard during the 2023-24 campaign, along with a minus-eight rating. Karpa will presumably have to break out in a major way this upcoming season to be considered in the Rangers’ plans. Brendan Ferry

June 2023 – Karpa has played the last two seasons for Harvard in the NCAA. The left-shot Center appeared in 33 games for the Crimson in 2021-22, posting 12 points, and in 22 games during 2022-23, posting eight points. Karpa, listed at 6-2 and 185 pounds, is not listed with any team as of yet for 2023-24. He is property of the Rangers until his exclusive signing rights expire on August 15, 2025.  Brendan Ferry

August 2022 — Karpa, son of ex-NHLer and former Ranger Dave Karpa, will be entering his second season with Harvard University, after being drafted as an overage prospect.  Karpa posted six goals and six assists for 12 points in 33 games played for Harvard during the 2021-2022 season. Said to be a defensive-minded center with a high hockey IQ (he does go to Harvard, after all), time will tell if Karpa can follow in his Dad’s footsteps and work his way onto the Rangers in the future.  Brendan Ferry
