Fantasy Summary

A tall, lanky net minder with good positioning skills.

Observations

September 2026 – Vedenpaa made his Liiga debut as Kärpät’s backup this season, and the numbers were  difficult. His 3.50 goals-against average and .867 save percentage in 15 games reflected both a young  goaltender adjusting to the top Finnish league and a Kärpät team that gave up a lot in front of him (2-11- 2 record in his starts). Context matters, but the raw numbers are not what Seattle wanted to see from a  21-year-old they hope will develop into an NHL option. The 6-2, 183-pound frame gives him solid  coverage, and the EP scouting report notes good instincts, a strong technical base, and moderate crease  depth. He extended with Kärpät for 2026-27, which keeps him developing in a competitive environment.  The tools are real, but Liiga goalies at his age rarely post dominant numbers in their first extended run,  so the sample needs to grow. Seattle has not signed him to an ELC, and the signing deadline is June  2027. Fantasy relevance is minimal. He is a deep-stash goalie prospect who needs a cleaner Liiga season  before he enters the NHL pipeline conversation.   Andrew Epps
August 2025 – Ultimately, Vedenpaa’s injury ended up costing him his entire season, and he did not see any further action past the four games he saw in October. He is poised to start his season next year in the Liiga, and will be looking to test out his body and shake off some rust when the puck drops. Not much can be gleaned about his development given the lost season, but there’s certainly no more reason to add him to your roster now than there was at the start of last year. Watch, don’t roster. Alex Wyatt
February 2025 – Vedenpaa has battled injuries this season, and sits with a 4.02 GAA and .851 SV% in the Mestis league in Finland. We will not be able to get a good read of his growth from this year and wouldn’t be a great investment in your leagues at this time. Alex Wyatt
.
September 2024- Vedenpaa’s 2023-2024 season in the U20 league in Finland was a success. He sported a 12-5-0 record for Karpat, with a line of 2.25 and .900, both top ten ranked numbers by goalies who played 15 or more games, with two shut outs. He will likely get some more opportunity to play in the Liiga against professional competition, and show whether he can add his name to the top of the long list of Finnish netminders in Seattle’s pipeline. Alex Wyatt
.
August 2023 – Drafted in the sixth round by Seattle, he will hone his skills in the Liiga while waiting to climb the Kraken’s goaltending ranks. Alex Wyatt
