June 2025 – Bauer is a restricted free agent. His last contract with the Winnipeg Jets was a three-year, $2.55 million deal with a cap hit of $850,000 per season. It expired at the end of the 2024-25 season. Bauer is shaping up to be a career AHLer. He is better known for his toughness and never hesitates to drop the gloves and engage in a fight. Aside from racking up PIM, if he can ever crack the NHL, there is no reason for rostering him on your fantasy team. Mark Henry

July 2024 – Bauer will not attend the Winnipeg Jets development camp, which will take place July 3-7. He has played 103 games in the last two seasons with the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League. Bauer had two goals and five assists for seven points in 56 games during the 2023-24 season with the Moose, matching his exact goal and assist totals from his rookie campaign. A -17 rating was his most glaring statistic in 2023-24. Bauer has a long way to go before being considered an NHL defenseman. Mark Henry

August 2023 – Bauer turned pro in 2022-23, playing 47 games with the Manitoba Moose (AHL). While his offensive numbers don’t stand out (two goals and five assists), he led the Moose in PIM with 103 as a rookie. Bauer attended the Jets’ 2023 Development Camp in July. Mark Henry

June 2022 – Bauer inked his three-year ELC on May 30th, just one day before his draft rights were set to expire. The Seattle Thunderbirds captain is currently battling for a WHL championship, down 3-1 in the series. A mid-season MCL tear cost the blueliner over three months of his season, but he did not skip a beat in his March return to the lineup. In fact, his second game back is textbook Bauer, featuring an assist, plus three rating, seven PIMS, two shots on goal, and one of the most spirited scraps I have ever seen (link here if interested https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=14&v=DsAmkMfQSxE&feature=emb_title). There is no doubt that Bauer will be bringing high-tempo, physical, leadership-driven defensive play to professional hockey. Perhaps as early as next year, he will be competing for a spot with the Manitoba Moose, but Bauer still has one more season of junior eligibility as an overager if need be. Justin Kaye
