Fantasy Summary

Tenacious forward with good hands around the net. Plays with energy and has enough skill to grow into a depth scorer at the NHL level.

June 2023 – Like many of his Kraken prospect brethren, Robertson had a fantastic season in the OHL. He was one of four Kraken prospects to finish in the top 16 in points (had to get Kyle Jackson in there!) and finished with 36 goals and 54 assists in 68 games. Kraken kids also littered the top ten in OHL Playoff scoring. Three of them made the list, with Robertson coming in at number eight, with nine goals and 13 assists in 22 games. Robertson’s scouting reports comment on his strong defensive game, which bodes well for his chances to get a look for the big club as he moves along in his development. Alex Wyatt

July 2022 – Robertson was selected by the Seattle Kraken in the fourth round with the 123rd overall pick of the 2022 NHL Draft. Nick Richard

June 2022 – Robertson showed promise in his first OHL season back in 2019-20 but didn’t play a single game in his first year of draft eligibility with the OHL season canceled due to the pandemic. Due in part to that, he went unselected in the 2021 draft but heads into the 2022 draft as one of the top overaged players available after potting 41 goals and 40 assists in 68 games with Peterborough this season.

Robertson is a hardworking forward who plays a straight-ahead style of hockey. He is a fine skater but his motor is unrelenting as he pressures opponents and hounds pucks on the forecheck. He has the ability to create turnovers and make opponents pay by quickly turning play up ice to create a chance for himself or a teammate. This is often evident on the penalty kill where Robertson proved to be a consistent scoring threat for the Petes this season. He doesn’t necessarily flash overwhelming skill or creativity as a playmaker but he can score in a variety of ways, due in large part to his quick hands and ability to execute in tight spaces. He positions himself well around the net to deflect incoming shots or box out opponents to corral rebounds near the blue paint before making a quick move to find twine. Off the rush, he attacks with enough speed to get goaltenders backing up before beating them with a slick deke as they are off-balance, and he has some one-touch scoring ability when he is able to pounce on contested pucks in the slot. Robertson might not possess enough raw offensive talent for his goal-scoring prowess in junior to translate to the pro level but he does have enough of a well-rounded game that he could develop into an energetic, secondary scoring presence in the NHL.
