Potential 3rd-pairing d-man

February 2020 – Poolman continues to be plagued by injuries early on in his career. The towering defenseman suffered a lower-body injury during a Jan. 12 game against the Predators. Originally, head coach Paul Maurice said he would be out until after the All-Star Break, but there seems to be no immediate timetable for his return to the lineup. Prior to the injury, Poolman was playing with Josh Morrissey. Jamie Zadow September 2017 – Coming off double shoulder surgery in the summer, the big question mark about Poolman would be his health heading into the season. So far, so good. The 24-year-old appears to be in a battle for one of the final defensive spots on the Jets roster. Poolman has tremendous size — like many other defensemen in the organization — and his seven goals and 30 points in 38 games last year, led all University of North Dakota defensemen. A heavy shot, paired with a tenacity in his own zone, surely has Jets management licking their chops. Jamie Zadow March 2017 – Tucker Poolman is another college hockey product, who is poised to make a name for himself in the NHL. The 6’4″ blue-liner, not only brings good size to his own end, but also a good offensive output, having put up seven goals and 13 assists for 30 goals in 38 games for the University of North Dakota. The big American late-bloomer seems poised to be able to join the Jets or their AHL affiliate as soon as he finishes off his college hockey career.   Not only does he bring in size and scoring, but some playoff pedigree having helped his North Dakota team to a NCAA Frozen Four Championship during his college career. Winnipeg may need to clear some room on the blue line for Poolman, or he may need to be moved to a team with a less crowded blue line corps to get a shot at the NHL. David Dickenson
