February 2024 – Forsmark has signed a contract extension with Timra IK in the SHL until the end of the 2025-26 season. Forsmark, who’s playing his first full year in the SHL, has six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 47 games. His skating stands out as his biggest strength but his overall play has stood out to Timra, who have had him on their top pairing for the majority of the year, which is impressive for a 20-year old. The Carolina Hurricanes have until June first, 2026 to sign him to an entry level contract but have the ability to move him to North America if they think he is better suited in the AHL. Nick Bass
January 2024 – Forsmark seems to have found his footing in the SHL, getting his first full season with Timra IK. He seems to be playing on the top pairing on most days, including getting some power play and penalty killing time. His 5 goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 36 games is currently tied for the lead amongst U20 scoring in the SHL, as well as a three-way tie for fourth among U23 scoring alongside Jonathan Lekkerimaki and another Carolina Hurricanes prospect in Joel Nystrom. His skating is his biggest strength but his playmaking and defensive IQ have taken big steps this year. Forsmark is still a year or two away from playing in North America but his play this year has been very impressive. Nick Bass
July 2022 – The Carolina Hurricanes have selected Forsmark in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft. Nick Richard
January 2022 – Forsmark has split his season pretty evenly between Örebro’s J20 team and the SHL squad. Offensively, he is a pass-first player and is a key member of the powerplay at the J20 level. Outside of his playmaking ability, he has proven that he is reliable with the puck on his stick in transition. Forsmark’s high level of motivation and resilience is noticeable at all times.
At the professional level, Forsmark has struggled to produce offense so far but he is engaged in offensive play through zone entries and his positioning in the offensive zone. He occasionally has seemed overwhelmed in the defensive end by the quicker and stronger competition at the men’s level, however. He primarily needs to work on his defensive positioning and speed in order to adapt to a step up in competition. One upside to Forsmark’s defensive play in the SHL is his physicality. While not overly physical, he uses his body wisely and is effective in boxing out opposing forward when defending the net-front area. Forsmark is a highly touted prospect for the upcoming draft, who many consider a top-40 pick. If his offensive skills begin to translate in the SHL and he continues his reliable transitional play, he could emerge as a potential first-round talent. Alexa Potack
