Samuel Johannesson

July 2025 – The 24 year-old Johannesson made his move to North America for the 2024-2025 season after several years in the SHL. He performed admirably for a rookie, posting five goals and 27 assists in 66 games, and managed to only collect six penalty minutes.

He featured on the powerplay, recording 18 powerplay points, and had an even primary to secondary assist ratio. St. Louis boasts a number of potential powerplay quarterbacks, but it isn’t too far a stretch to say that Johannesson has the best shot in the near term to earn a spot in the NHL. He is very sparsely owned in Fantrax leagues, so one could acquire him with minimal expense and watch to see how he progresses. Alex Wyatt

October 2020 – Johannesson is cool, calm, and collected. One of his top-rated qualities is his ability to react well under pressure while making the right decisions often. Rather than look for the extravagant play, he often gravitates for the simple, yet effective route. He began last year with Roggles’ U20 squad and posted eight goals during a 19 game span. His impressive play earned him a mid-season call-up to the SHL, where he dressed in 44 games, producing 11 points as a 19-year-old.
