August 2021 – Rafkin was not selected in the 2021 NHL Draft and will re-enter the draft in 2022. Nick Richard
October 2020 – Rafkin passed through the 2020 NHL Draft without a selection. He will re-enter the draft in 2021. Jokke Nevalainen
September 2020 – Ruben Rafkin is a defense-first blueliner who has decent mobility and the ability to make a good first pass. He plays a pro-style game already which should bode well for his immediate future as he is moving on from the Windsor Spitfires (OHL) after just one season to join TPS of the Liiga. His body is already physically mature and he certainly doesn’t lack strength. The offensive upside is limited but Rafkin has shown the ability to be a good facilitator on the powerplay and in the offensive zone at even strength. The young Finn thrives when defending the rush, playing an aggressive gap, and willing to throw his body around a bit. Rarely taking himself out of a play for a hit, the physicality that he shows shouldn’t be a detriment like some other defenders who will be drafted in the same range. Tony Ferrari
