Fantasy Summary

A goal-scoring winger with great size and very good speed. A modern power forward who uses his size to protect the puck. Isn’t afraid to drive to the net. Owns a great shot and decent playmaking abilities. Has potential to become a top-six winger and a 30-goal scorer. Not a well-rounded player, so there is some risk involved as well.

June 2025 – It was thought that Järventie was heading home to Finland and signing a one-year contract with his hometown team, Tampere, but the Edmonton Oilers signed Järventie to a one-year, two-way contract extension worth $775,000 on June 3. 2025, keeping him in the organization for at least one more season. After the Oilers acquired the forward from the Ottawa Senators last July, Järventie played just two games with the AHL Bakersfield Condors during the 2024-25 season due to a knee injury. He still produced two assists. Järventie will need to prove he can stay healthy and rebound from last season’s injury that all but wiped out his entire season. He is starting to become harder to hold in dynasty leagues; see how he begins the 2025-26 season before moving on from him. Mark Henry

July 2024 – Jarventie has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers in a swap with Xavier Bourgault. Ben Gehrels

July 2024 –  Jarventie has excelled at the AHL level as a top-six scorer. He looked primed to lead the Belleville Senators in scoring this past season before going down with a knee injury in February that ended his season. Jarventie is a highly skilled shooter but may not be able to crack the Ottawa Senators’ lineup at all this season due to their improved depth. Another season in Belleville is likely in the cards for him. Naftalie Clinton

September 2023 – Jarventie played in the first two games of the prospects tournament held in Buffalo. In the first game he had a goal and two assists and was solid on the puck and exhibited confidence while on the power play. His lack of foot speed and inability to separate from his check could be issues which keep him from making the jump to the NHL and having success. The other hurdle for him, is that he more than likely needs to play in the top-six in the NHL as his current style of play does not translate well to the bottom-six. He will need to produce offensively. Grant Campbell

April 2023 – Jarventie showed progression in a year that he was out for more than 30 games with injuries. He managed 40 games with Belleville where he had 16 goals and 14 assists on 92 shots on goal. He is still only 20-years old so we can expect another year in the AHL for 2023-2024 with a few games in the NHL if deserved. Grant Campbell

November 2022 – Jarventie hurt his knee at the end of October and has only played eight games with Belleville so far with two goals and three assists. Ottawa is hoping for some progression after he played 70 games last year as a 19-year-old in the AHL and had 11 goals and 22 assists. Grant Campbell

October 2022 – Jarventie had a somewhat disappointing pre-season with Ottawa, where he dressed for two games and went pointless. He was sent to Belleville, which was expected, and he will be looking to improve on his 11 goals and 22 assists from last year. Grant Campbell

August 2022 – Jarventie had a very good U20 World Juniors and made it to the finals with Finland where he won Silver. He had four goals and five assists in seven games, with all four of his goals coming on the powerplay. He stood out during the tournament and showcased his excellent one-timer. Grant Campbell

June 2022 – The 2020 33rd overall pick finished his first full AHL season with 11 goals and 22 assists in 70 games. He did fade a little down the stretch, scoring just a goal and four assists in his last 20 games. The 19-year-old should benefit from another AHL season next year and should see a few games in the NHL next year. Grant Campbell

December 2020 – Järventie has been added to the Finnish preliminary roster for the World Juniors. He has been on fire to start the season with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 19 games in the Liiga. The hot streak is unlikely to last the entire season in reality but if he can maintain most of what he’s been doing, he will prove the Senators’ brass right with their selection of the highly talented but oft-maligned forward. His skating is still a work in progress but improving and his shot remains a lethal weapon. Watch for Järventie to be a legit goal-scoring threat at the World Juniors if he makes the Finnish squad. Pat Quinn

October 2020 – Järventie was drafted 33rd overall by the Senators. Järventie is expected to spend at least two more years in Finland before crossing the pond.  Jokke Nevalainen

March 2020 – Järventie has finished his first regular season in Mestis, the second-highest men’s level in Finland. It was an extremely successful rookie season for the 17-year-old as he scored 23 goals and 38 points in 36 games. He averaged 15 minutes of ice time with about two minutes of that coming on the power play. Järventie has been a well-known prospect in Finland for a few years because he has always been one of the top players in his age group in Finland. Some were expecting him to be able to play at the Liiga level full-time this season, but he wasn’t quite ready to play his style at that level, so playing in Mestis was the next best thing. His father, Martti, was a long-time professional hockey player in Europe. Järventie is a modern power forward who uses his great size to protect the puck and drive to the net with the puck on his stick. But he doesn’t play a very physical brand of hockey. He is a goal-scoring winger who owns a great shot and decent playmaking abilities, but he is a bit of a one-dimensional threat, which is why he projects to become a complementary goal-scorer rather than someone who drives the offense himself. He also doesn’t play a well-rounded game, so if he’s not producing offensively, he’s not contributing much else either. But he has the potential to become a 30-goal scorer at the NHL level if things break right. Combining that with his August birthday, projectable frame (6-2, 185), and very good skating ability, Järventie projects to get drafted in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Jokke Nevalainen
