Observations
October 2025 – After being passed over in 2024, Von Richter took it personally and returned as a much-improved player. Always having a defensive-first identity, he sought to add more transition and offensive elements to his game. That still was not enough, as Von Richter was passed over again in 2025.
His skating and puck handling remain areas that need further improvement. Entering the 2026 draft as a D+2, it seems unlikely he will be selected. He could receive a PTO or AHL offer once he becomes a free agent and attempt the steep climb to the NHL that way; otherwise, he is likely to end up in Europe. Markus R
