Observations

August 2025 – Alcos’ season came to an unceremonious end after surrendering a 3-1 series lead to the Prince Albert Raiders. He played in all seven games and had just two assists, primarily due to the Oil Kings’ struggles with scoring goals. With the Canucks’ tight contract situation and Alcos’ need for further development, expect him to head back to the WHL for the 2025-26 season. Nick Orr
March 2025 – Alcos has had a nice year through 48 games with the Oil Kings. His stats do not immediately stand out, as he has 13 points in 11 games so far, but his impact is felt in other ways. He has displayed strong skating, using quick feet to stay with defenders. Alcos hit an strong stretch in late December and early January, where he collected eight points over an eight-game stretch. Since then, however, Alcos has not scored on the scoreboard and has had some challenging recent games. Edmonton currently sits in sixth place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference, so improving Alcos’ play is crucial for the Oil Kings to make a strong playoff push. Nick Orr

September 2024 – Alcos is a great skater. He is mobile from the back end and uses that mobility to create chances. He will make a stretch pass to a teammate or carry the puck himself. He can also handle himself in defensive situations, proving trustworthy to keep the puck out of the net. Alcos may need to add a bit to his offensive game, but he has the foundation to be a defensive defenseman. Nick Orr
