August 2020 – Nicholas Aube-Kubel has been taking some for the team in the way of blocking shots. As such, his status going forward into the next playoff round is uncertain. If he hasn’t won the spirit award he sure warrants an honorable mention. He has the makings of a viable depth play, although he needs to crack the lineup more often for the juice to be worth the squeeze. Edric Joseph

September 2017 – Barring an unforeseen change in circumstance, Nicolas Aubé-Kubel is slated to report to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for duty this coming year. He has bottom-six potential as a defensive stopper at the NHL level, while being able to be plugged into offensive situations in a pinch. As such, he will likely see playing time in both specialty team disciplines in the coming season. Edric Joseph

April 2016 – Aube-Kubel just completed his most successful offensive campaign in his fourth season in the QMJHL. He scored 38 goals and tallied 46 assists for a total of 84 points in just 61 games. Aube-Kubel also was responsible on the ice, exhibited by his plus-38 rating. He doesn’t shy away from the physical game, as he collected 71 penalty minutes for the Val-d’Or Foreurs. He also got a taste of the AHL, playing in six games and scoring three points. He will likely take on an offensive role with the AHL Phantoms next season and push for callup opportunities. Lee Rayson

October 2014 – Through 10 games with Val-d’Or, Aube-Kubel has recorded four goals and five assists to go along with a plus-4 rating Zach Hopkins

Oct 2014 – After being sent back to the “Q”, Aube-Kubel has inked his entry-level deal with the Philadelphia Flyers. After scoring six goals in the preseason for Val-d’or, the 2014 second rounder has recorded two goals and one assist in three contests Zach Hopkins

June 2014 – The Philadelphia Flyers selected skilled foward Nicolas Aube-Kubel with the 48th pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. Brendan Ross

May 2014 – Entered the QMJHL as a top 2012 pick (7th overall), Nicolas Aube-Kubel is a dynamic offensive forward capable of dazzling individual dangles and one-on-one rushes. Slender in build, Aube-Kubel competes in the tough areas of the rink and isn’t afraid to take some risks offensively attempting some serious toe-drags. Keep an eye out for Aube-Kubel’s shot as it features both quickness and pinpoint accuracy and acts as one of his most dangerous assets. He weilds a tricky stick that works as well defensively as it does offensively forcing turnovers almost at will. Aube-Kubel and his teammates enjoyed a nice long ride in 2013/14 when the Val-d’Or Foreurs captured the QMJHL Championship and represented their league in the 2014 CHL MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament. As high scoring teammate Anthony Mantha graduates to the pro leagues it will be Aube-Kubel who will be carrying the torch so look for a potential breakout season in 2014/15. Brendan Ross
