Luke Mistelbacher

June 2026 – Though players being taken in the NHL draft after they have passed through twice already is not a common occurrence, there’s a chance Luke Mistelbacher could add his name to the list next week.

He returned to the Swift Current Broncos, scoring 42 goals and adding 51 assists for 93 points in 67 games. The offensive explosion was by far his best season yet, and good for sixth overall in points.

As an over-ager, he has the edge against a good portion of the competition in age, physical development and experience, but the offensive output was notable.

He is by no means an A-tier prospect, but is certainly deserving of hearing his name called in the third round.  Alex Wyatt

June 2025- Mistelbacher went undrafted in his first year of eligibility, and he hit the ice in 2024-2025 intent on ensuring that didn’t happen again. He finished fourth in goals in the WHL (42) and eighth in points (93)- both tops on the Swift Current Broncos- and regularly fired five or more shots on net in a game.

Interestingly, he got into two games with the Iowa Wild of the AHL at the end of the year, and scored a goal.

He will have to show teams that this year was not a fluke, but he could see his name called in the top fifty names on draft day. Alex Wyatt
