June 2025 – Draper’s third NCAA season saw him post seven goals, two assists and 37 penalty minutes. It was a feel-good story when the Red Wings drafted the son of their former fan-favourite, Kris Draper, but it does not appear he is destined for the same storied career as his father. He is currently unsigned by the Red Wings, and likely won’t be a factor for us in our fantasy squads. Alex Wyatt
November 2020 – In the most obvious case of draft day nepotism since the New Jersey Devils used a seventh-round pick on Anthony Brodeur in 2013, the Red Wings chose Kris Draper’s son Kienan with the 187th pick of the 2020 draft. He didn’t dominate at the high school level in his draft year but will look to continue his development in the BCHL this coming season with the Chilliwack Chiefs. Draper is committed to Miami University of Ohio for the 2021-2022 season. Nick Richard
