Fantasy Summary
Two way centreman who could feature in a team’s bottom six if he can hone his craft and fill out his frame.
Observations
September 2025 – Avery skated his rookie OHL season with the Brantford Bulldogs, providing a defensive presence and strong two way game. He chipped in nine goals and 12 assists across 53 games. The 18 year old effects the game from the bottom six, being the player who is entrusted with protecting leagues and stifling the other team’s offensive opportunities.
If Avery can add some more bulk to his 6-1 frame, and hone his skills to the point where NHL scouts can see him fitting in as a bottom-six, defensive forward for their NHL or AHL team, then he is likely to hear his name called on the second day of the 2026 NHL entry draft.
He doesn’t need to be rostered at this stage in fantasy, and his sophomore season for the Brantford Bulldogs should give us more insight if he is capable of earning his way on to our minors rosters. Alex Wyatt
