June 2022 – The Red Wings have still yet to sign van Pottelberghe. The now 25-year-old has played professionally in Switzerland since 2016 and has yet to come to North America. His performance in the Swiss professional league has been noteworthy as his save percentage has been .914 or better the last four seasons, and he has saved more goals than expected in each of the last three seasons. It is unclear if he will ever come to North America as he is committed to play in the National League in Switzerland in 2022-23 once again. If he does decide to come over, the Red Wings retain his rights. With Jan Bednar and Sebastian Cossa in the system, van Pottelberghe’s path to NHL playing time is cloudy. Victor Nuño
