August 2023 – The Red Wings did not qualify Berglund as he has become a UFA. He is also contracted with Karlskrona HK of the HockeyEttan league for the 2023-24 season. Pat Quinn
January 2021 – Berglund got into just one game for Sweden at the World Juniors, picking up an assist and four shots on goal in a shutout victory over Austria. He has since returned to Vasteras IK of the Allsvenskan where he has three assists through 19 games this season. Nick Richard
December 2020 – The Red Wings selected Swedish blue liner Gustav Berglund in the sixth round of the 2019 draft. He spent most of the following season with Frolunda’s U20 squad but earned eight games at the SHL level as the year progressed. Berglund was recently included on Sweden’s preliminary roster for the 2021 World Junior Championships. Berglund is a strong skating defenseman with good contact balance, able to absorb contact and make a play on puck retrievals. He handles the puck well and can carry it out of the zone or complete a strong first pass. He is active in the offensive zone, using his skating to open up lanes from the blue line but he lacks high end offensive skill. Berglund is a long term project with bottom pairing upside. Nick Richard
