Evan Vierling

June 2022- Vierling, unsigned by the team, will re-enter the 2022 NHL draft as an over-age prospect. Injuries and inconsistent play led the Rangers to pass on offering Vierling an entry-level contract prior to his recently passed signing deadline. Brendan Ferry

October 2020 – Vierling was selected by the New York Rangers in the early fifth-round of the 2020 NHL draft. On his current trajectory, the playmaking center he will likely remain in the OHL until the fall of 2022, when he becomes eligible to play in the AHL. Brayden Olafson

September 2020 – It was a tale of two seasons for Evan Vierling as he struggled early in the year with Flint before flourishing upon his arrival in Barrie. He seemed to be a bit lost in the shuffle for a strong Flint Firebirds team as they were one of the top teams in the OHL for much of the season but found chemistry with fellow draft-eligible Tyson Foerster. The duo seemed to fit like a glove as Vierling was the perfect compliment for the big shot of Foerster. The former second overall pick in the OHL Draft was able to utilize his skating, speed, and playmaking ability to enhance the goal-scoring ability of his teammates. While he needs to work on becoming a more legitimate goal-scoring threat himself, the passing and puck skills are solid. If you believe that he’s the player that showed up on the ice and on tape after the trade deadline, one NHL team is going to be getting a pretty talented player. Tony Ferrari
