Observations
July 2026 – Samson signed a one-year, two-way contract with Montreal for the 2026-27 season. Chris Babos
August 2025 – Samson doubled two key metrics in 2024-25. He doubled his point production to 24 points in 69 games, from 12 in 63 games during 2023-24, and he nearly doubled his plus-minus from minus seven in 2023-24 to minus 12 in 2024-25. Dynasty fantasy managers with Samson on their watch list were hoping he would round out his defensive game as his scoring picked up; however, that has not been the case yet. Unfortunately, Samson had the lowest plus-minus out of the entire defensive group for Lehigh Valley last season. If he wants to get a look at the NHL level in the coming years, he will need to make significant progress in his defensive habits so he can be trusted against NHL forwards. Ioan Gheordanescu
June 2023 – The Philadelphia Flyers signed Samson to an entry-level contract on December 31, 2022. During the 2022-23 season with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League, his offensive game took off to the tune of 60 points (18 goals, 42 assists) in 62 games. Samson will either play for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL or the Reading Royals of the ECHL in 2023-24. Mark Henry
June 2022– Recording just 11 points during the shortened 2020-21 WHL season, Samson showed offensive limitations during his 22 games with Prince George recording one goal and 11 assists. This past season, Samson experienced a significant improvement in his offensive production, registering 15 goals and 28 assists. The Cougars’ assistant captain ranked second among the team’s blueliners in points, falling just two behind Hudson Thorton. Questions still surround a successful transition to the professional game, but Samson could help alleviates some of those concerns with a strong 19-year-old season with Prince George. John Gove
