June 2025- After dominating the OHL in 2023-2024 with 39 goals and 65 assists for 104 points in 66 games, a move from the North Bay Battalion to the Barrie Colts saw his offense go stale. Wakely played 55 games and only scored 23 goals and 35 assists for 58 points. The Colts were a much different team than the Battalion, and despite the decline in offense, Wakely was just a point behind team leader Kashawn Aitcheson in nine fewer games. Wakely projects more as a bottom-six player who provides grit, and though the offensive slide may feel disappointing, it was likely an anomaly anyways. Wakely is still worth watching in leagues where banger categories are coveted. He will head to UMass-Lowell of the NCAA next season. Alex Wyatt.

June 2024 – The Edmonton Oilers drafted Wakely in the sixth round (192nd overall) in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Mark Henry
