May 2021 – In his first season in Providence, Yoder was used primarily as the fourth-line center. He has always been lauded for his defensive abilities and he continued to impress in that regard this year. When he was on the ice at even strength, his team scored 52.6% of the goals. The Penguins like to let their college prospects use all four years of their eligibility and will likely let their 2020 pick do the same. Time will tell if he can use his strong skating and hands to generate offense. Kyle Watson
October 2020 – Yoder was selected by the Penguins 170th overall in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL draft. Committed to Providence College, he is expected to spend a few years there before making the jump to the next level. He is known for being defensively responsible and a solid penalty killer. Yoder is aggressive on both the defensive side and on the forecheck. He is not the player that will impress you with flashy stickhandling, but he is very good at moving the puck safely out of danger.
