Fantasy Summary
He wants to get into shooting range as quickly as possible. His speed and aggression challenge defenders trying to slow him through the neutral zone or when he’s driving to the net. Those attributes also make him a punishing forechecker. He’s much more effective north-south than east-west.

August 2024 – The 2021 fourth-round pick is gearing up to enter his fourth season in the NCAA with the University of North Dakota. His development has been steady through all four years. Last season, he produced a little less than a point-per-game pace with 37 points in 40 total games. Berg will need to have a big season with North Dakota this year to prove his worth to the Islanders management. As it stands, his upside is a bottom-six forward in the NHL, but he will need some time in the minors and his success at that level will likely determine his true ceiling. It is important to note that Berg is already 22 years old without any professional experience, so his development from this point on will need to be drastic if he wishes to make the NHL. March 2022 – After significantly raising his point totals in three consecutive USHL schedules, the 20-year-old is posting encouraging numbers in his NCAA début. The energetic center has eight goals and 15 assists in 37 games with the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Some proactive forechecking adds to his value. Mark Allan
July 2021 – Berg created some intriguing U.S. Hockey League stats on which to build after a trade from the Omaha Lancers. Finding his scoring touch with 18 goals and 12 assists in 32 appearances with Muskegon, he upped the ante the next season with 27 scores and 31 helpers in 51 outings for the Lumberjacks. He finished seventh in the USHL in goals and points. Four goals in four post-season games were the cherry on top of a promising campaign. Next up for the solidly built six-foot, 192-pounder is the University of Nebraska-Omaha. While listed as a center, he’ll likely find more success on the wing at some point due to his rambunctious, straight-ahead approach and heavy shot. Mark Allan
