June 2025 – Establishing himself in the AHL has proven difficult for Clang. After two underwhelming seasons with the San Diego Gulls, he now finds himself falling down the Ducks’ organizational depth chart. He’s already been overtaken by Clara, outplayed in the AHL by Suchanek, and faces pressure from Buteyets for the last AHL spot. Clang remains fundamentally sound, but the pace and consistency required at the AHL level have been too challenging. There’s still time for him to develop, goalies often follow unpredictable development paths, but his NHL projection has become increasingly uncertain. Next season will be crucial, without clear progression, Clang risks being completely overtaken in the system. If you were counting on Clang to make the NHL, it could be time to reconsider. Markus R
August 2023 – Clang is still a very young goalie prospect and hasn’t shown whether he will be a long-term member of the Anaheim Ducks. He played most of the 2022-23 season in Sweden with Bogle BK Angelholm. He also finished his season with a short stint with the San Diego Gulls. Playing in the AHL for the 2023-24 season, he will fight for playing time with Gage Alexander. He has a great pedigree and should soon carve out a full-time role with the Gulls soon. Naftali Clinton
March 2022 – Clang was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in the Rakell trade. He moves to an organization with one of the top goalie prospects ahead of him (Dostal) but that does not mean he can carve out an NHL role in the future. Pat Quinn
March 2021 – Clang was named the best junior player of the year in the Allsvenskan. On the worst team in the league, he finished with a 12-17-0 record and placed eighth in goals against and ninth in save percentage. Kyle Watson
December 2020 – The Penguins’ third-round selection at the 2020 draft will join Team Sweden in the bubble at the World Juniors. With Tampa Bay’s Hugo Alnefelt and 2021 top prospect Jesper Wallstedt also there, Clang will be the third-string goaltender. The 6-2′, 176 pound Swede was one of the most sought-after netminders in the draft. Although often playing second fiddle to Alnefelt, he has represented Sweden at every international level so far and won gold at the 2019 U18 World Championships. Clang plays a very technical game, sitting back in his crease and reading the play. He relies on his positioning and angles rather than reflexes. There are questions about how he will fare in the pros, but thus far in the Allsvenskan with Kristianstads IK, he has not looked out of place. Thus far, has won four of eight starts, posting an impressive 1.81 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage. Kyle Watson
