Fantasy Summary
Aggressive and pesky, Wassilyn is a checking forward with solid handling and finishing.
Observations
October 2025 – Wassilyn, a left-shot forward and Ontario native, has just begun his draft season, often referred to as a D-1 season, playing in his second season with the OHL’s Niagara Ice Dogs. He is committed to Boston University in the NCAA for the 2026-27 season, his post-draft season. Wassilyn is rated in the top 35 prospects in multiple draft rankings at the onset of the 2025-26 season, and as it stands currently, is a firm bet to become a first-round selection in next Summer’s NHL entry draft. He currently weighs in at 5-11 and 194 pounds. He is known for creativity, excellent passing and playmaking and a quick release, despite being an unselfish player who is just as happy teeing up his teammates as he is putting a puck in the net himself. After admittedly having to overcome the mental hurdles of making the jump from minor hockey to the OHL, the young playmaker is feeling more comfortable and more confident heading into his second OHL season. He and his coach for Niagara are expecting big things for him this season, after he posted 39 points in 62 games played during the 2024-25 season. The young Canadian states that he worked very hard this past Summer, and came to OHL camp noticeably bigger and stronger than he was a season ago. Wassilyn’s ability to play at the NCAA level, if he does indeed head to college following this season, is thanks to the new transfer rule that allows OHL players to transfer to the collegiate ranks.
