May 2023 – Laferriere made the jump to the professional ranks after just two seasons in the NCAA with Harvard and inked a three-year entry level contract in April that has him under contract until the end of the 2024-2025 season. Laferriere brings the entire package to the table for the Kings with tons of tenacity and a bite to his game. The 2020 third round pick has shown that he can be a consistent offensive threat as he collected 73 points in 69 games over two seasons with Harvard and has a nose for the net with 35 of those points as goals. He could still be a couple years from making a fantasy worthy impact in points formats, but keep an eye on him in multicategory leagues that reward physicality and shot volume, as he seems poised to bring plenty of both to the organization moving forward. June 2022 – After establishing himself as a force in the USHL, Laferierre took his talent to Harvard where he won several ECAC awards including rookie of the year and multiple all-conference teams. This is not a surprise as Laferierre has found a way to dominate at every level he has played at, but what is more impressive is his tenacity and how he can translate his physical play into quality scoring opportunities. At 6-1 and 180 pounds, there could still be room for physical growth in his frame, making him even more dangerous when he works his way into the AHL and eventually the NHL. The forward remains unsigned, so it is likely he returns for at least another season in the NCAA. He has shown himself to be a strong shooter with upside in the hits department, indicating he could be on his way to becoming a strong player in multi-category formats. With an NHL-ready shot and frame, look for Laferierre to continue to climb up the rankings for keeper and dynasty leagues. Sean Crocker
May 2021 – Alex Laferriere not to be mistaken for Alex Lafreniere, spent last season playing for Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL. He put up 42 points in 45 games for the Buccaneers last season while also adding 42 penalty minutes. He is a versatile player that can play a heavy game despite his smaller 6-0 frame. He has a shot that is NHL ready and average skating and speed but does need to work on his acceleration and agility. He is a power forward with a scoring touch that does not shy away from physical play or the dirty areas of the rink. Laferriere remains a few years away from any professional hockey experience and is committed to Harvard University for the 2021-2022 season. Julian Mongillo
