Fantasy Summary
Blending skill and grit, Greig is one of the best pests in his draft class. He may not be an outright bruiser but he is certainly able to get under his opponent’s skin and then score a goal to add salt to the wound.

July 2024 – Greig exceeded expectations in his first full season in the NHL. He didn’t look out of place in the Senators’ lineup. Greig proved himself as a versatile NHL player who can put up points, get under opposing players’ skin, play well defensively, play on the wing, play at center, basically anything the coach wants him to do, he’ll do. He could end up getting stuck in the bottom-six this year as the Senators have improved their forward depth over last year. The 21-year-old suited up for Team Canada at the World Championship but didn’t show up on the scoreboard in five games played. Naftalie Clinton
September 2023 – Greig played in just one game of the prospects tournament that was held in Buffalo which included New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Ottawa and Buffalo. Greig had a goal and two assists in the game against New Jersey and was the best forward on the ice for Ottawa. He is such a workhorse out on the ice and just wants the puck more than the opposition when in a board battle. Combined with an above average skill level, Greig should be a second or third line player one day in the NHL. The Senators are up against the salary cap, and Greig does not require waivers to be sent to the AHL, so he might start the season with Belleville once again. Grant Campbell
April 2023 – Greig had an impressive 20 games in the NHL with Ottawa where he had two goals and seven assists. He also played 39 games in Belleville in the AHL where he had 15 goals and 14 assists. Unless he has a poor pre-season next year, he should be in the NHL to stay in 2023-2024. Grant Campbell
November 2022 – Greig has battled some injuries so far this season but he has played very well when in the lineup. In his first 11 games in Belleville he had three goals and seven assists. His style of play will lead to more injuries than normal but that style is what makes him such an intriguing player. I do not think there is any question that when he is healthy he will be a third or fourth line center in the NHL by the end of this season or next. Grant Campbell
August 2022 – Greig had an excellent U20 World Juniors, but came down with an injury which prevented him from playing in the Semi-Finals and Final. He ended up with three goals and three assists in five games, but his overall contribution had him emerge as one of the better forwards for Canada in the tournament. He separated his shoulder and will miss the Senators rookie tournament in September. Grant Campbell
May 2022 – Greig returned from a shoulder injury in time for the playoffs with Brandon in the WHL after only playing 39 games this season where he had 26 goals and 37 assists. Brandon was knocked out in the first round where Greig had two goals an assist in six games. He was called up to Belleville in the AHL and dressed in their last game of the playoffs where he had an assist. Look for Greig to play in Belleville next season as a 20-year-old. Grant Campbell
December 2020 – Testing positive for COVID-19 on November 8th, Greig’s arrival at Canadian World Junior camp was delayed, and then it was over. Cut from the Canadian camp, Greig was always considered on the bubble for making the roster so the cut isn’t necessarily a surprise but it is unfortunate that he didn’t really get to make a mark on the camp or get much of a chance to steal a spot at the bottom of the roster. Grieg will look to be ready for the Brandon Wheat Kings training camp and the start of the WHL season in early-mid January. In what should be a big year for the Wheat Kings forward, Grieg will look to out COVID in the rearview as soon as possible, hopefully recovering to full health shortly as he was still experiencing some effects from the virus despite testing negative prior to his release. Tony Ferrari
October 2020 – Greig was drafted 28th overall by the Senators. Greig could push for an NHL job after two more years in the WHL. Jokke Nevalainen
May 2020 – The speed and skill to keep up with the modern game and the tendencies of a pest that can frustrate opposing teams is what Greig brings. He sees the ice well and makes plays in the offensive zone utilizing his speed to create separation and back off defenders. He does not hesitate from grinding a play out along the boards or battling a bigger defender at the net-front if it means his team gains an advantage. His compete level is consistently high and he never seems to stop running his mouth. Other teams will hate him but his team loves him. He finds space in the offensive zone to take advantage of the opposition’s defensive shortcomings. He projects as a middle-six scorer who will be a thorn in the side of the opposition. Pat Quinn
