Oscar Hemming

July 2026 – Columbus bet on the tools, not the production, taking Hemming 14th after a contract dispute in Finland wrecked the first half of his draft year. His club Kiekko-Espoo blocked a move to the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers, a BCHL attempt fell through, and he finally landed at Boston College in December, where one goal and seven assists in 19 games as the youngest player in college hockey tells you almost nothing useful. The body and the shot are the point. He is a 6-4 Finnish power forward who plays in straight lines, hunts hits, and lives at the net front, paired with a quick, accurate wrist shot and more speed than his frame suggests. He dominated Finnish junior hockey the year before, 63 points in 31 U18 games, and held top-six minutes at BC next to James Hagens once he arrived.

Steven Ellis of Daily Faceoff called him a menace at his best, and THW floated a Cutter Gauthier comparison. His brother Emil went 29th to Dallas in 2024. Hemming returns to Boston College for a full season, and his fantasy case rests on the goals arriving once he is healthy, settled, and on the puck more. Andrew Epps
