Fantasy Summary

A projectable player that may lack high-end upside. His competitiveness and confidence in his own game show when the puck is on his stick. Good size with decent skating. He could be an interesting middle-six scorer with a good work ethic.

August 2021 – Suni was not selected in the 2021 NHL Draft. Nick Richard

October 2020 – Suni passed through the 2020 NHL Draft without a selection. He will re-enter the draft in 2021.  Jokke Nevalainen

September 2020 – His first season in North America started with so much promise as the Oshawa Generals forward started well but was quickly derailed by a shoulder injury. with 23 points in his first 26 games, the Finnish import hit the ground running but didn’t look the same after the injury. Finishing with 32 points in 43 games, Suni showed a lot of NHL tools but the injury and lack of production afterward is a red flag that could lead to a fall in the draft. He is effective around the net in the offensive zone, showing the strength to put himself in a good position. He skates well but could stand to increase the explosiveness of his first few steps in order to really take a step offensively. His two-way game is adequate for a winger but if Suni has plans to make the NHL, he likely won’t be able to rest on his offensive talent to do so. There will be some work that Suni has to do on his game but finding a role in the NHL seems reasonable, the question will be where exactly he ends up in the lineup. Tony Ferrari
