January 2023 – Hutsko is playing in the SHL this year and doing merely okay (seven points in 20 games). While there is a chance he returns to North America in the coming years and resumes his NHL trajectory, those prospects are dimming. He was slowly working his way up the scoring list for the AHL Checkers, becoming closer to seeing a call-up to the Panthers, but it seems increasingly unlikely that he will realize that dream given where things stand currently. August 2023 – Hutsko has continued to progress slowly but steadily. The question is does he have enough pop to make the NHL? After scoring 44 points in his final 41 college games, he transitioned well to the AHL Checkers in 2021-22 and then improved his scoring rate slightly in his second year. But Hutsko is already 24, still a depth scorer in the minors and yet to see a single NHL call up—not the most promising trajectory. After a recent report suggesting that he has signed in Sweden, his NHL hopes indeed appear to be flickering. He tied Denisenko and Heponiemi in points per game last year, however, which suggests the smooth-skating forward still has decent upside. If the Panthers do not elect to offer him a new contract, Hutsko would be free to sign with a different NHL team after his stint in Europe. Ben Gehrels
June 2022 – Hutsko has stabilized his trajectory this year by staying healthy and transitioning seamlessly to the professional ranks. He made a positive impression on the Panthers coaching staff this past September during training camp, where he was one of the final demotions. He then became one of the top scorers on the AHL Checkers as a rookie. He will likely play a handful of games over the next couple years before establishing himself as a middle-sixer with Florida. January 2021 – Now in his senior year with Boston College, Hustsko has kept the wheels turning with his consistent production at the Collegiate level. He sits within the top-five in points-per-game, firing at a 1.50 clip, while also showcasing his strong two-way workload with a respectable plus-nine rating. He has managed to hover around the point-per-game mark for his entire career in Boston and has shaped up to be an intriguing third-round prospect. The 22-year-old could join the Panthers prior to this NCAA season, in which case, there is a chance for him to contend for a bottom-six role. However, AHL deployment is likely a safer bet at the moment. Dave Hall
April 2020 – Hutsko had a fantastic season at Boston College and, despite early rumors that he’d be joining Florida, will return in 2020-21 for his senior year. By the summer of 2021, Hutsko will be 22 y/o and ready to plug into the NHL, so fantasy owners may not have to wait longer than usual. Keith Fries
June 2018 – Hutsko was drafted 89th overall by the Florida Panthers. Hutsko has had serious injuries during the past two years which caused him to miss most of 2016-2017 season, so he went undrafted in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He managed to come back from the injury and had a strong season playing NCAA hockey at Boston College where he scored 12 goals and 31 points in 37 games and was selected Rookie of the Year in the Hockey East division where his team played. Hutsko is more of a playmaker but can also finish plays. His skating is decent but not great – although those previously mentioned injuries could also play a part in that. Jokke Nevalainen
