June 2024 – Jacob Perreault had a difficult time adjusting to his new team, after being traded to the Montreal Canadiens organization and being assigned to the Laval Rocket. He ended the season in a bottom-six role, and his future is uncertain. The Montreal Canadiens may opt to re-sign him in hopes of him tapping into some of his potential, but he may look for another change of scenery with more opportunity. Aaron Itovitch
March 2024 – Jacob Perreault was traded to the Montreal Canadiens today in exchange for prospect Jan Mysak. Aaron Itovitch
July 2023 – Perreault had an extremely disappointing 2022-23 with every stat being worse than the year prior. He went from 37 points in 55 games to 19 points in 48 games, his goals dropped from 14 to eight as his shots per game went from 2.36 to 1.19. It was discussed in the exit interviews that Perrault was dealing with an injury for most of the season, which explains the drop in production, and the smart money is on an upper-body injury considering his dramatic drop in shots. It looks to have occurred in late November as that is when his additional stats dropped. The Gulls were the worst team in the NHL, and the lowest scoring, which will never help anyone’s production. Perreault played sporadically between January and the end of the season as he kept playing through the injury. He should bounce back for 2023-24 so keep tabs on him as he is a great “buy low” candidate. Pat Quinn
May 2022 – After starting the AHL season with 15 points in 11 games, Perreault came down to earth with just four in his next 22. Consistency is obviously an issue, which is fine as he only just turned 20 and was very young for the AHL. Defense is also an issue, but there is still plenty of time to address those things. Still a couple of years away. – Dobber
July 2021 – Another player who started his pro career off early because of the pandemic, Perreault played in 27 games for the San Diego Gulls. While he did not have the flashy stats of other rookies (three goals and 17 points in 27 games), the coaching staff in San Diego worked with him on the defensive side of the puck as that is where he needs improvement. The Montreal native was one of the best shooters to come out of the 2020 draft class and his skating is one of his best assets. If he plays at the OHL level this coming season, it will not be a step back. This would give him time to develop on both sides of the puck and the chance to see if he can develop into a top line player or just a powerplay specialist.
October 2020 – GM Bob Murray will take his time with Perreault and let him develop in the OHL for the rest of his eligibility. The right-winger oozes talent when it comes to putting the puck in the net, but he needs time to work on his play in the defensive zone. The Ducks have a number of young, puck distributing centers in their pipeline, which makes Anaheim a great spot for the Canadian winger. Lucas Main
October 2020 – Perreault was drafted 27th overall by the Ducks. Perreault could push for an NHL job after two more years in the OHL. Jokke Nevalainen
September 2020 – One of the most intriguing forwards in the class, Perreault possesses the best shot in the draft from a player not named Alexander Holtz and his crafty offensive game allows for him to excel in the offensive zone. His skating was a question mark coming into the year but he showed marked improvements in his stride and speed. He was one of the top players in the skating drills at the CHL Top Prospects game, beating out noted speedster Jean-Luc Foudy in some of the speed drills for the top player at the event. He’s played right wing for the vast majority of the season and likely profiles that way at the next level as well. Perreault’s potential is very high and there is a world in which he goes in the top-10 of a re-draft in a decade or so. With legitimate 40-goal potential, Perreault should be a hot commodity come October 6th, the night of the first round. Tony Ferrari
March 2020 – Lost among the shuffle of a terrific OHL draft class, Perreault managed to find a way to produce staggering numbers while playing on a dreadful Sarnia squad. His 39 goals were tied with Marco Rossi for second-most and his 70 points in 57 games sat sixth for first-time eligible OHL skaters. The sturdy pivot has a shooter’s mindset and can convert from all over the offensive end. That ability demands attention from opponents thus opening up passing lanes. He may slide into the middle or late portion of round one whenever the 2020 Draft takes place, but he should be firmly on the fantasy radar. Cam Robinson
