Fantasy Summary

An intriguing, multi-cat winger who just hasn’t managed to find his way to the NHL

July 2025 – Dugan had a respectable USHL and NCAA career, where he appeared to be a decent bet to be a middle-six, complementary scorer. That potential never materialized in the professional ranks, as Dugan has bounced from team to team in the AHL and ECHL, and appears to be set to continue his career in the DEL2 in 2025 2026.

He skated in the ECHL the last two seasons, and posted nearly identical seasons, with this most recent being a line of 23 goals, 53 assists for 76 points in 70 games, with 129 PIMs as well.

With Dugan turning 27 in March, and his move to Germany, the sun has likely set on his chances for fantasy hockey relevance. Alex Wyatt

December 2021 – A prolific USHL scorer in 2017-18 (31G, 35A, 104PIM, in 54 contests) and his following two seasons at Providence College (20G, 71A, 112PIM, in 75 contests), Dugan has evolved into a more disciplined player yet retained his scoring prowess with 11 goals and 25 assists over 41 AHL games these past two campaigns. Now at 23 years-of-age, the Pittsburgh-born power forward displays solid potential as a middle-six, NHL forward in the not-too-distant future. Kevin Wickersham

October 2019 – After a sensational year in his freshman year at Providence College, Dugan has come out of the gates on a blistering pace. In his first two official NCAA games of the season, Dugan has posted six points including two goals. It’s rare in the NCAA to see an underclassman lead the team, but that is exactly what Dugan will be asked to do for the Friars as they make a push for a tournament selection this coming spring. Dugan has bulked up over the summer and is now able to use his size to create space in the offensive zone. He is older than most sophomore players, and it looks as though the extra experience he obtained in the USHL is paying off in dividends to start the 2019-20 season. Mason Black

May 2019 – It was another step in a positive direction in terms of the overall development for Dugan. It’s still early in the untraditional path to the NHL, but all signs point to a great fifth round selection in Vegas’ inaugural draft in 2017, especially after his impressive freshman campaign. In his rookie season with Providence, Dugan finished with 39 points in only 41 games played and was a key part of a roster that made it all the way to the Frozen Four before being knocked out in the championship game. Some pivotal players have moved on at the culmination of their collegiate careers, and this should open the door for a more increased role for Dugan in his sophomore season. Mason Black

November 2018 – Dugan has wasted no time in getting acclimated to college hockey with Providence of the NCAA’s Big East Conference. The freshman has posted 14 points in his first 11 games and he currently leads all NCAA rookies. At 20 years old, he’s older than most first year college players with NHL pedigree, but the extra time he spent in the USHL has allowed for a solid progression in terms of fantasy point potential. I wouldn’t expect that he’ll be able to continue his current point-per-game pace over the course of the entire season, but his blazing start places is certainly a promising sign. Mason Black

April 2018 –Jack Dugan’s USHL career came to an end as the Chicago Steel were knocked out of the playoffs by Team USA’s National Development Program in a tight series that culminated with two overtime losses that closed out the series. Dugan finished off a fantastic year that saw him finish third in USHL league scoring and second in points-per-game. He also picked up eight points in seven playoff games. Dugan will be making the jump to the NCAA next season and has committed to play with the Providence Friars. Mason Black

November 2017 – Jonathan Dugan was drafted by Vegas in the 5th round straight out of the famed Northwood prep hockey school after being skipped over in his original draft year. He has taken an untraditional path by jumping over to the USHL playing for the Chicago Steel and has committed to play for Providence (NCAA) in 2018. As a 19-year-old Dugan is dominating the USHL and leading the Chicago Steel by posting 22 points in 15 games played. He currently sits in second place in league scoring despite playing in a quarter fewer games compared to the league leader.   Mason Black
