July 2024 – After three years spent in the Florida Panthers system, Carlsson signed a two-year contract with the San Jose Sharks, ending his time with the Panthers. James Connelly
April 2021 – Splitting time in the NHL and AHL this year, Carlsson was deemed expendable by Chicago as he was dealt to the Florida Panthers in a deal that sees a handful of prospects change scenery. Carlsson will be looking for a new lease on life for his young NHL career. Tony Ferrari
October 2020 – Carlsson saw action in the 2020 playoffs with the Blackhawks. While he was used sparingly, the experience should pay off down the line for the former fourth round pick in 2016. When the season starts, look for Carlsson to make a push to start the season in Chicago. Tony Carr
June 2020 – Carlsson has been named the Rockford Icehogs Defenseman of the Year for the 2019-20 season. This is the second year in a row he has earned the honour. He made his NHL debut this year as well, making this his best season as a pro. He looked very good during his stint in Chicago and should be in the mix should the Blackhawks run into injuries during this coming playoff season. Tony Carr
April 2020 – Carlsson made his NHL debut, playing in six games prior to the season being put on hold. As with most young defencemen, the pace of play seems to be the biggest obstacle for him to overcome but overall his debut was positive. He had no problems playing in his end, dealing with corner battles and protecting the front of the net using effective positioning. He also seemed willing to take a hit to move the puck which is a great trait to have, showing poise under pressure. Look for him to start the season in Rockford again but he should be an early call up when it’s required. Tony Carr
February 2019 – Carlsson is having a fantastic first season in North America, discovering a scoring touch previously unseen. Through his first 50 games in the AHL, he has 25 points, which is a happy surprise. If these numbers are consistent with his future production, the Blackhawks will have found another steal in the later rounds of a draft. Tony Carr
September 2017- Carlsson is another in a long line of great skating defenseman from Sweden. A very smart, efficient player, he will bring a high level of skill to the blueline in Rockford. Carlsson leans more toward the defensive side of the puck, managing his side of the ice well. It will take some time to adapt to the North American style of play but his skating being at such a high level will help compensate for the differences between leagues. Tony Carr
