In the middle of the fantasy off-season, there's probably not a whole lot of action happening on your Yahoo, Fantrax, or ESPN league pages right now. This is true enough for the DPFHL league consisting of the DobberProspect writers, but what is happening are a series of prospect adds and drops. These adds aren't the [...]
The good news for the Avs is that it can't get much worse. After a disaterous 2016-17, the organization has stocked up on some NHL depth and some smooth-skating prospects (see my Entry Draft article here). The road back to respectability will be a long one, but the team is lucky enough to start [...]
It may be summer outside, but its always hockey season in our hearts. There is ALWAYS hockey to be watching and this week we're lucky to have the World Junior Summer Showcase - the first chance of the season for youngsters to show off their talent in hopes of landing a spot to represent [...]
This week, the DobberProspect writers started our annual prospect draft for our fantasy league. Kevin LeBlanc wrote this article earlier which covered the first round of picks, doing a great job at figuring out who the value picks were, and why some players were taken perhaps higher or lower than pure talent would dictate. [...]
We're getting into the doldrums of the offseason, but several talented young players are waiting for contracts. Lots of these players are high-profile names that don't quite qualify as prospects anymore, but I do think its time to ramble about a few lesser-known pieces that have unclear futures. The following players are probably on someone's [...]
The head coach can make all the difference from young players trying to make a name for themselves in the NHL. This effect will be amplified more than ever on the vegas Golden Knights, a rag-tag team of players who, for the most part, have never played together before which leaves an enormous amount of [...]
After a disaster of a 2016-17 season, wrapped up by losing even the draft lottery, the Colorado Avalanche had a big off-season ahead of them. Step 1 was the NHL Entry draft, which overall was very successful. They had a total of seven picks, and got good value with most of them relative to where they [...]
A slightly less publicized deadline has passed in the NHL this week: that for RFA qualification. Teams had until the 26th to qualify their RFA, stopping them from becoming UFAs on July 1st. Qualification means that a team reserves the right to match any contract offer that player gets from another club, whereas [...]
We all know the deal - Friday and Saturday marked one of the most exciting hockey prospect event of the year: the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. I'm not going to list every single pick from every single team (you can check out the DobberProspect team pages for in-depth thoughts on all fantasy-relevant prospects), but I [...]
If you're anything like the hockey-crazy writers here at DobberProspects, you've been guessing for months who your favorite team will be protecting from the Vegas Golden Knights, and today we've finally been given the names. Sure, side deals mean that many of these players aren't ACTUALLY available, but the lists are out - the real [...]
