Fantasy Summary

Very high on potential just needs to bulk up, could be a future power play quarterback but it will be a couple of seasons before Joseph reaches the NHL.

February 2018- Joseph is in the midst of an excellent season, putting up 10 goals and 38 points in 46 games for Charlottetown, good for 10th among QMJHL defensemen. The Coyotes signed their first-round pick from 2017 to a three-year, entry-level deal in December but unlike other high selections of Arizona don’t expect to see the smooth skating, offensive d-man in the NHL at least for a couple more years. Keith Duggan

September 2017- After an impressive training camp with the Coyotes, Joseph has been returned to his junior team, Charlottetown of the QMJHL. He was pointless in one preseason game but definitely impressed with General Manager John Chayka saying this about the 2017 first-rounder, “He has really stood out at camp, exceeded expectations.” The Coyotes hope to see Joseph bulk up from his current 160 lbs but the youngster looks to have a bright future. Keith Duggan

June 2017- The Coyotes selected Pierre-Oliver Joseph with their first-round pick, 23rd overall Friday, a defenseman considered by many scouts to be very high on “potential”. He put up six goals and 39 points in 62 games last season with Charlottetown in the QMJHL. His 39 points were the second-most on the team among defenseman. Twenty of his points came on the power play with 17 of those assists- the second-highest on the team. A smooth-skating, two-way defenseman with a very high hockey IQ, Joseph is exactly the kind of blueliner the league is transitioning too. His biggest knock right now is size and strength, as he’ll battle for pucks and lose because he doesn’t have the mass, but the will is there. Keith Duggan
