Blake Smith

September 2026 – Smith completed his first full AHL campaign with the Toronto Marlies,
logging 62 games, nine points, and 110 penalty minutes – a profile that reads exactly as
advertised for the 6-5 undrafted blueliner. A product of the Primeau hockey family – with
uncles Keith and Wayne and cousin Cayden all having played in the NHL – the pedigree
is present even if the organizational expectations are measured. He was a healthy
scratch in the Marlies’ Calder Cup run, and further development is needed before any
conversation about NHL time begins in earnest. Avoid in both redraft and all but the

August 2025 – Undrafted during his eligible years, Smith signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. Smith is a towering presence on the blueline, standing 6-5 and 225 pounds. He completes his OHL career with 244 games played, offering 13 goals, 41 assists and 204 penalty minutes over his tenure.

He has a lot of fine tuning required to his game before we can pencil him into an NHL line up, but he is due to suit up with the Toronto Marlies this upcoming season and will work on rounding into a third-pair, defensive defenseman who supplies decent skating and a very physical presence. Alex Wyatt
