February 2024 – When facing competition within his age group, Stenberg has been impressive this season. In this year’s World Junior Championship, he amassed an impressive nine points in seven games. Unfortunately, his performance has not been the same when playing for Frolunda in the SHL. In 31 games this season, he has only recorded six points. It is worth mentioning that the SHL is typically not very forgiving for young players, as evidenced by his average ice time of 11:38 with his club. At just 18 years old, Stenberg is still young, but St.Louis might consider bringing him back to North America next year to provide him with more ice time and better opportunities for development. August 2023 – Stenberg demonstrated his ability to produce points against players of his own age at the World Junior Summer Showcase. In the tournament, he played four games and had one goal and three assists. Stenberg’s stats last year in the SHL, three points in 23 games, show that he needs more development before being NHL-ready. Cedrick Blais-Turcotte
June 2023 – Stenberg has been selected 25th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2023 NHL Draft. Curtis Rines
April 2023 – Once thought to be the second-best prospect from the Swedish leagues, Stenberg’s inconsistent season has pushed him down the list. As seen while representing Tre Kronor, Stenberg has an advanced playmaking ability and can play a dynamic game. His feet are always moving, working to create deceptive plays. The one downside to this, which is fixable, is that he can get caught with his feet moving before his hands, getting him stuck in challenging situations. The jump to the SHL, though brief, was some of Stenberg’s best hockey this season. In junior hockey, Stenberg sometimes seemed disinterested in the pace of play and competition. While up with the Men’s team, Stenberg played a more selfless game and was consistently engaged. Alexa Potack
September 2022 – Stenberg spent the last season playing for Frölunda’s J20 and J18 teams. He was able to produce at a pace of two points-per-game in the J18 with 24 points in just 12 games, and near a point-per-game at the J20 level, notching 16 goals and 19 assists in 38 games. He was a leading forward for the U17 national team and despite only scoring two goals in six games at the U18 Worlds, he had a strong showing in that tournament. This past August, he was a leading forward for his country at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, captaining the team and notching an impressive five goals and four assists in 5 games to help guide Sweden to a silver medal.
Stenberg is an energetic and offensively skilled forward with a dynamic skillset. He has a very well-rounded offensive toolkit and the ability to produce points with his playmaking and vision, as well as his shot, which comes off his blade with force and accuracy. Stenberg has great puck skills, high-end vision, and good playmaking ability that allows him to pick apart defensive coverages and find teammates in open space. He is average-sized but not small and is actually quite solid on his skates, and his skating and motor are both great. Stenberg has been playing both center and wing in the junior ranks but will likely end up as a winger at the Swedish pro level and in the NHL if and when he makes it there. Eetu Siltanen
