June 2022 – Söderblom had a solid end to the AHL season posting an overall .919 save percentage over 38 games, and a .925 in five playoff matches with Rockford. While he’s had a small taste of the NHL, he may start off the season in the AHL to gain a little more experience. Aside from Lankinen, there really isn’t much competition in the crease which does put Söderblom in a great position to be called up fairly early into the upcoming season. This may possibly be 1A and 1B scenario between Lankinen and Söderblom. Puneet Sharma
March 2022 – After signing his first NHL contract in May, Söderblom finds himself in a promising spot among the Blackhawks’ depth chart. With Marc-Andre Fleury officially out of the picture, the 22-year-old Finn should find himself in the mix of the club’s goaltending duo, alongside Kevin Lankinen. So far, through 24 games with the Rockford IceHogs (AHL), he sports a 13-10-1 record, with nine of those wins coming in 2022. His .920 save percentage currently sits in the top-10 league-wide, and has even enjoyed brief – albeit lackluster – stints in an NHL uniform (0-2-0). The club seems confident in his progress and should gift him with a few starts in the final stretch of the 2021-22 campaign. Dave Hall
