May 2024- Traded last offseason to SKA St. Petersburg, Fedotov signed there for the next four years, remaining in the KHL until at least 2026-27. This greatly hurts his chances of coming over and most likely never signs with Utah. In 16 games with St. Petersburg he went scoreless but had two goals and nine points with their VHL team in 10 contests. Keith Duggan

June 2023- Much like last year, Fedotov dominated the MHL but didn’t rack up points as much at the KHL level. He had six goals and nine points in 11 MHL games for Chaika Nizhny Novgorod. His KHL team, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, owns his rights but after just two games was loaned out to bottom feeder HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk for the remainder of the season. There Fedotov saw much more playing time and averaged close to three shots per game, where he had nine goals and 14 points. Fedotov is an interesting prospect, he’s skilled but plays a high-intensity, active game. Keith Duggan

June 2022- While not seeing much ice time in the KHL, Fedotov only recorded two goals in 35 games. Finishing 2021-22 in the MHL for Chaika Nizhny Novgorod, it was good to see his offensive game and confidence return as he received more playing time. Fedotov had 15 points in 20 MHL games along with 44 PIM. He was even more impressive in the MHL playoff’s as he was a point-per-game in 10 contests while leading the postseason with 41 PIM. The aggressive winger is expected to play 2022-23 in the KHL, hopefully seeing more playing time. Keith Duggan

October 2021- The Coyotes went off the board a little and selected Russian winger Ilya Fedotov with their second of three second-round picks last July. He didn’t appear in any international tournaments in 2020-21, spending most of he year with his MHL team, which hurt his status somewhat. Fedotov was the fourth highest scorer in the MHL last year among under-18 players though, with 18 goals and 38 points in 54 games. He’s a talented offensive player who wants the puck on his stick, stickhandling through defenders or showing creativity as a distributor. The biggest thing that sticks out about his game is Fedotov’s toughness and competitiveness. He does not just settle for simple contact on the forecheck, Fedotov wants to drive his opponents through the boards. He’s going to take the body first and puck second and hope the effect results in turnovers when defenders start hearing footsteps on retrievals. He’s gotten off to a strong start during 2021-22, appearing in a preseason game with the Russian under-20 Team, then racking up six points in three MHL contests before a recall to the KHL. Like many young players in the KHL, Fedotov has not seen much playing time with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod but has one goal in 16 games. Keith Duggan
