Maxence Guénette

May 2023 – Guenette had a good season in Belleville, where he displayed some offensive production with 40 points in 72 games with 23 of those points coming on the power play. He was rewarded with one game in the NHL where he played just under nine minutes. Guenette is behind Bernard-Docker and Thomson on the depth chart, but he has bridged the gap in the past year and is now someone to be considered. Grant Campbell

June 2022 – The 21-year-old played his first season in the AHL  and had six goals and 13 assists in 48 games. The seventh-round pick continues to exceed expectations after signing his ELC. However, he might need another season or two before he gets a look with Ottawa. Grant Campbell

January 2019 – Guénette has had a decent season and has shown growth since the start of the year. His coach in Val d’Or has noted his improvements, especially at the offensive end of the ice. He came into the year looking to improve and has done just that. His skating and passing ability have been on display for most of the year, despite the muted production on a bad team. Guénette’s production should go up if he is surrounded by talent by next season whether that be with the Val d’Or Foreurs or another team within the QMJHL. His situation in the Quebec league should be monitored because the talent is there but he hasn’t been given much to work with this year. Tony Ferrari

November 2019 – The seventh-round pick from last June’s draft has been solid with a struggling Val d’Or Foreurs team this year. He has been talked about when it comes to naming players for Team Canada’s World Junior Camp invites and has put together a solid season of production. He has a decent shot from the point and plays a smart defensive game. He can make good first passes and he skates well enough to make his way through junior hockey but may need to improve as he advances through the Senators’ system. Overall, the lottery ticket of a seventh-round pick seems to have been well worth it to this point with the Senators possibly having found a diamond in the rough in the late stages of the 2019 Draft. Tony Ferrari
