Fantasy Summary

Speedy center/left wing prospect. Physical when he needs to be and his stick-handling is impressive.

September 2023 – Edmonton’s top forward prospect played in 51 games last season and recorded nine points but did not really make much of an impact in the limited role and minutes that he played. After a taste of the NHL last season and a fairly underwhelming group of veterans vying for bottom-six roster spots, Holloway will be given every opportunity to seize a role on the big squad this season. Jameson Ewasiuk

June 2022 – Edmonton’s top forward prospect in their system, Holloway, had a solid rookie season in the AHL. He recorded eight goals and 22 points in 33 games and had a strong final seven games where he record nine points in that time. There is a chance that Holloway could make the Oilers out of camp next season but it likely would not hurt for the team to be patient with the hard-working winger and continue to let him refine his skills. The young forward fits right into the mold of what Edmonton is building and what saw them have the most success since 2006 – which is speed and hardworking play. A good comparison for Holloway is current Oilers fan favorite, Zach Hyman, but with that said, while Hyman is a quick skater, the young prospect is an even better skater. Holloway will find his way into Edmonton’s top-nine sooner than later, so do not be afraid to invest in this player from a fantasy perspective. Jameson Ewasiuk

March 2021 – It is hard not to be impressed with the season that Holloway is having. His physical tools are outstanding, he plays a two-way game and he is strong on face-offs (56.8% this season). However, I don’t think anyone predicted the offensive production he would have this year. In 20 games played this season, Holloway has recorded an impressive 11 goals and 34 points. His 34 points place him fourth in NCAA scoring but more impressively, his 1.7 points per game lead the NCAA for players who have played at least 10 games (he is second if you count all players). Holloway also earned himself a spot on Canada’s World Junior team, where he had a goal and an assist in six games. He showed decently well in that tournament due to his overall game and role player ability that Canadian teams love to have. Yet, he did not generate a lot of offense. Overall, Holloway’s puck skills still lack a little polish and he will likely never be a flashy playmaker but his production is very impressive and his work ethic should make him an effective pro. Edmonton loves to saddle Connor Mcdavid with a physical winger (Kassian, Maroon), so Holloway could be a nice fit there in the near future. Holloway’s excellent skating and strong compete level should also mesh well with the Oilers’ captain. With the season that he is having, do not be surprised if Holloway leaves Wisconsin earlier than expected. Jameson Ewasiuk

October 2020 – Holloway was drafted 14th overall by the Oilers. Holloway could push for an NHL job in 2021-2022 if he decides to leave school early after just two seasons.  Jokke Nevalainen

August 2019 – Last season, Holloway played with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He tallied 40 goals and 48 assists in 53 games played. Holloway’s point totals were the second highest in the AJHL, behind only William Lemay of the Brooks Bandits despite playing in two less games. Next season, Holloway will be playing for the University of Wisconsin Badgers alongside Alex Turcotte (Los Angeles Kings prospect), Linus Weissbach (Buffalo Sabres prospect), Sean Dhooghe, Jack Gorniak (Montréal Canadiens prospect) and Cole Caufield (Montréal Canadiens prospect). Holloway will be learning and developing under head coach Tony Granato. Granato is a well-established head coach and will hopefully help Holloway’s positional awareness and transitional play. Over the course of last season, Holloway showed that he was a little inconsistent with his positioning and neutral play. There were some nights where Holloway was on point and others where he was a bit off. Aside from Holloway developing in those areas, he will be able to showcase his impressive speed, physicality and stick-handling at the collegiate level. If Holloway can improve upon his positioning and neutral zone play, he could be a spectacular top-six forward in the NHL.  Josh Tessler
