July 2025 – The Winnipeg Jets signed Faegmo to a one-year, two-way contract with an average annual value of $775,000 in the NHL. Early on in the offseason, the Winnipeg Jets have been left with openings in their lineup on the wing. The departures of Brandon Tanev, Mason Appleton, and Nikolaj Ehlers will leave an opportunity for a newly signed forward or young prospect in the organization to step into an NHL role in 2025-26. Fagemo would have to beat out Tanner Pearson, Cole Koepke, and Gustav Nyqvist for a roster spot, and also factor in if Nikita Chibrikov is healthy and ready to play in an NHL role. Fagemo’s two-way contract makes him the easier, more likely player to be sent to the American Hockey League to start the 2025-26 season. Should he make the NHL roster, Fagemo would likely play a limited fourth-line role with minimal ice time and no special team usage. He is off the fantasy radar for immediate contributions. If you can roster him in deep dynasty leagues, he’s worth holding onto to see what kind of start he has in the Winnipeg Jets organization. Mark Henry

June 2025 – Fagemo enters the offseason as a UFA since, as of writing, he has not signed a new deal since his ELC expired. Fagemo turned 25 in March and spent the entire 2024-2025 season in the AHL with the Ontario Reign. Several depth pieces on the Kings’ roster are also on expiring deals, so it is too soon to tell if Fagemo is certain to re-up with Los Angeles or search for greener pastures.

On the season, Fagemo managed 43 goals and 19 assists for 62 points in only 50 games in 2023-2024 with the Reign, and followed it up with a line of 29-17-46 in 67 this year, so he certainly can’t do much more to show he is ready to earn more NHL time.

One should always check the shooting percentage when a player blows their previous goal totals out of the water lest the production be the result of an increase in luck. In his 43 goal campaign, his shooting percentage was 21.5%, which stood above his regular efforts (14.9, 19.9, 14.7, 21.5 and 14.0% from 2020-2021 to 2024-2025), however his 31 goal season last year appears very repeatable on his increased shot volumes. Fagemo has shot more than twice a game since he entered the AHL, and that number has grown every year, with him firing three and a quarter pucks on net per game last year.

History has shown there’s no shortage of AHL stars who fail to replicate their success at the NHL level, but with only 21 NHL games provided to him so far, Fagemo certainly deserves a shot somewhere to prove his mettle. He should be on your watchlist, or stashed in hopes he earns a spot in Los Angeles’s opening night roster or a contract with another team. Alex Wyatt

July 2023 – Fagemo signed a one-year two-way contract extension with the Kings last week worth $775,000. Fagemo’s production lagged behind his previous career highs he set in 2021-22, but he scored goals at a higher rate than in the past. Fagemo got a couple looks at the NHL level last season with nine appearances and will likely see NHL ice again next season. While he should compete for a full-time spot on the roster, he could be bound for Ontario to start the year in a top-six role to start the campaign. Sean Crocker

May 2023 – Fagemo’s 23 goals were the second highest on the Reign’s leaderboard in 2022-23 and collected his first three points at the NHL-level during a midseason call-up to the Kings. Fagemo has a propensity to dominate the powerplay and has shown improvements each year where he has generated more points with the man advantage than the previous season. Fagemo’s defensive game needs further development, which could hinder the prospect of a full-time role in the immediate future. Fagemo has all the offensive tools to succeed but could stand to add playmaking ability to his arsenal. He stands to become a solid asset in the fantasy realm if he can overcome his defensive struggles or if the Kings decide to give him a chance in a pure offensive role to surround him with a safety valve to ensure his defence does not affect his output. Sean Crocker

December 2022 – Fagemo was rewarded for his strong start to the campaign with the Reign by receiving a call-up to the Kings who had been mired with injuries in their bottom-six forward group. There, he put up a goal and an assist in three appearances before being sent back to Ontario once the big club got back to full health.

One of the criticisms of Fagemo’s game has been that he does not utilize his powerful catch-and-release shot enough, but he has put most of those worries to rest by averaging around three shots-per-game which has benefitted his goal total. Fagemo is looking to build on his 27-goal campaign in 2021-22, and while he may not top that total outright due to being on a shortlist of call ups to the NHL, in the contests which he does suit up for Ontario, he should remain a top scoring option as he looks to continue to ascend through the organizational depth chart. With more strong showings with Ontario and occasional stints in the NHL this season, Fagemo could become a full-time member of the Kings as soon as 2023-24 and a depth option this season in the case of injuries. Sean Crocker

March 2022 – Making the jump to North America last season, Fagemo has taken a huge step forward in his development, amassing 20 goals and 14 assists so far in his first full season with the Ontario Reign. Fagemo has shown his ability to be an efficient goal-scorer at each level he has played, making him a potential candidate to make the big club out of next fall’s training camp. He is worth a stash and wait approach in keeper and dynasty formats. Sean Crocker

April 2021 – The Swedish winger is another one of a long list of Kings prospects making noise as rookies in the AHL this season. He began the year playing in his native Sweden before the NHL season camps opened and has been a pleasant surprise for the Reign. He is up to seven goals on the year through his first 19 professional hockey games and should continue to see high usage rates. He is another offensively gifted forward who can score and will likely see the rest of the season in the minors. He is still likely a few years away from making the full-time jump to the NHL especially considering the forwards in the system that are above him on the depth chart. Patience is a virtue and should be worth the wait here he is a solid long-term dynasty stash. Julian Mongillo

January 2020 – Fagemo turned heads at the 2020 World Junior Championships slotting in to Sweden’s top line with fellow countrymen and Canucks prospect Nils Hoglander. With many eyes fixating on Hoglander entering the tournament, Fagemo made sure he was not overshadowed by his line mate by leading the World Juniors in both goals and points, with eight and 13 respectively. Fagemo led Sweden to a bronze medal and proved he has high-end skill and elite scoring ability. Following the tournament, the 19-year-old was loaned back to Frolunda to finish the season, where he has put up six goals and eleven points in 20 games this season. Julian Mongillo

October 2019 – Fagemo is one of the many new faces selected by the Kings at the 2019 entry draft, and the organization did not waste anytime inking him to a three-year entry-level contract a few weeks later. The fast skating winger can play both wing positions which satisfies the need within the organization at the forward level on the right side. The young Swede turned heads at training camp this season but was ultimately loaned back to Frolunda of the SHL to continue to mature. Playing against stronger men overseas will help Fagemo make a smooth transition into pro hockey in North America when the time comes, and with not many other players ahead of him on the depth chart he could get his opportunity to make the NHL sooner than expected. Julian Mongillo

June 2019 – Fagemo has been drafted 50th overall by the Kings.  Jokke Nevalainen

June 2019 – Fagemo was officially measured at 6-foot-0 and 190 pounds at the NHL Draft Combine.  Jokke Nevalainen

December 2018 – Fagemo was draft-eligible already last summer but went undrafted because of injuries and inconsistency in his draft year. This year, he started the season in Swedish junior league SuperElit where he scored ten goals and 14 points in eight games before being promoted to the top level, the SHL. He’s been earning more responsibility as the season has progressed, and now has five goals and ten points in 21 games. Fagemo has also added eight points in eight games at the Champions Hockey League. Fagemo is a very talented goal-scoring winger with good upside. He’s expected to play a big role for Team Sweden at the World Juniors. A strong showing there in addition to a strong finish to his season in the SHL could make him a potential second round pick next summer.  Jokke Nevalainen
