April 2020 – Schutz spent the majority of the 2019-20 season playing in the DEL German pro-league where he averaged less than .30 PPG in 42 appearances. Another season overseas may help boost his confidence but whether he returns to Europe or jumps to North America he’s still a work in progress. Fantasy owners shouldn’t go trading him just yet as he’s projected to be a regular in the bottom-6. Keith Fries
December 2018 – The Panthers drafted Schütz in the sixth round last summer. At 5-foot-10, Schütz isn’t the biggest guy on the ice but he doesn’t get intimidated. He’s a long-term project and his odds of reaching the NHL aren’t all that great. But he has some interesting qualities, mostly his skating and his offensive tools.
Schütz’s games this season have been spread over three different leagues including DEL which is the top league in Germany. Most recently, he played at the Division I Group A part of the World Junior Championship tournament. He played left wing on the top line for Team Germany, and was also used on their top power play. Germany won the tournament and earned a spot at the 2020 World Juniors. Schütz finished the tournament with seven points in five games. Jokke Nevalainen
