Fantasy Summary
Berglund’s upside is that of a two-way defenseman, although he will likely bring more defensive value to his professional team than he will offensive value to your fantasy team. He has a good shot and would bring additional value in leagues that count plus-minus.

December 2022 – Berglund and the Bruins mutually terminated his contract as the former seventh round pick went to play in the Liiga with HIFK for the remainder of the season. Pat Quinn
July 2021 – Berglund continued his positive development trend, performing well in 50 SHL games for Luleå. His production was especially remarkable when considering that his average ice time was just over 12 minutes per game. In this limited role, the seventh-round pick still managed four goals and 21 points, firing 94 shots on net. He signed his entry-level contract in 2020, and the next step in his progression as a prospect will likely be to join the Providence Bruins. Chris Mazza
December 2020 – Berglund is currently lighting up the SHL, with 13 points in 17 games thus far. His total is good for seventh in the league among defensemen, even though his time on ice is lower than each player above him. His transfer from MODO to Luleå has proven to be beneficial for the former seventh-rounder. Furthermore, the additional playing time in Sweden will have him operating in midseason form when he joins Boston for the team’s eventual training camp. Chris Mazza
August 2020 – Berglund signed his entry-level contract with Boston in June. During his 52-game 2019-2020 campaign, he finished second among his team’s defensemen in points with 22, first in goals with 10, first in shots with 99, and tied for first in PIM with 28. His accomplishments were also Allsvenskan career-highs across the board, despite continued low ice time (15:32 per game). He has agreed to transfer to Lulea of the SHL for the upcoming year, however Boston may still elect to bring him to the AHL when their season begins. Chris Mazza
November 2019 – After returning to the Allsvenskan for another season, Berglund appears to be in the midst of a modest breakout. He has managed five goals and 12 points through 20 games thus far, adding 43 shots on goal and a rating of plus-15. His point total is one shy of his 2018-2019 mark but was accomplished in 30 fewer games. His average ice time has increased by nearly two minutes, yet is still fourth among MODO blueliners. Despite the low ice time, Berglund sits tied for fourth in the league for production among defensemen. Look for the Bruins to bring sign him to an entry-level contract as early as this offseason. March 2019 – Berglund was signed to an amateur tryout contract by the Providence Bruins after his season ended in the Allsvenskan. He finished third among MODO defensemen with 13 points in 50 games, despite playing an average of just 14:38 per game (6th among the team’s D-men). He should give Providence a boost during their upcoming playoff run, after which he will likely sign his entry-level contract with Boston. Chris Mazza
November 2018 – After being selected by the Bruins in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Berglund had a successful 2017-2018 season for the MODO J20 team, finishing with 18 points in 23 games and earned a call-up to their main squad. He has played this year exclusively with the main Allsvenskan club, managing five points through their first 16 games. Berglund has a long way to go before he can be considered a real NHL and fantasy threat, but his development this season should be monitored as he is young, raw, and has the opportunity to learn from his teammate and ex-NHLer Tobias Enstrom.
