August 2020 – Linus Cronholm spent more of his 2019-2020 season playing in the Allsvenskan than in the SHL, and when he was with his SHL club, Malmö Redhawks, he was generally the odd man out. However, he finished the 2019-2020 season with Malmö, logging 14:25 of ice time in his final match of the campaign. He is a stay-at-home defender who does not contribute much on the offensive side of the puck and still has room to develop his defensive game. As the 2020-2021 SHL preseason is in full swing, he currently looks to secure a more stable role with the Redhawks. He has one year remaining of his current deal with Malmö. Kevin Wong
November 2019 – Linus Cronholm is having a rough 2019-20 campaign. For the second time in two seasons, Cronholm has been loaned out by Malmö to an Allsvenskan club. This season, he has been playing for Karlskrona HK and has recorded four points (two goals and two assists) in 20 games. Given that he has stay-at-home tendencies, the point total is not awful. The good news is that Malmö recalled Cronholm yesterday (November 25th). Cronholm will likely log bottom pairing minutes for Malmö, but exposure to playing against veteran SHLers will bode well for his development. Josh Tessler
September 2018 – The Sabres selected another defensive style defenseman, this one in the fourth round with Swede Linus Cronholm. He plays a smart and safe game, using a long reach and size to read the game and react accordingly to the play. Cronholm played most of the season within the SuperElit but was promoted to the SHL for two playoff games with his hometown Malmo Redhawks. Cronholm;s defensive game is already quite good and as a later player in the draft, his offensive does have room to grow as he develops. Marcus Griep
