June 2022 – Putting up weak numbers in LIIGA this season with Ässät, Dallas released Eriksson this week to become a UFA. A career in the NHL is unlikely for Eriksson. Aaron Itovitch
February 2020 – Eriksson has had a bit of a down season to this point in the 2019-2020 season. After securing a roster spot and producing respectable numbers (16 points in 44 games) with Skellefteå AIK of the SHL in 2018-2019, many expected his game to continue in an upward trend. Unfortunately, this season has led to Eriksson playing for five different teams while only producing two points in 23 contests in the SHL. Even more alarming is the fact that his TOI has dropped from 10:18 per game in 2018-2019 to 7:48 in 2019-2020. Also, after producing 69 shot on goal in 44 regular season games last season his shot rate is currently down to nine shots in 23 games this year. This has resulted in him being demoted to the U20 program this past weekend. Hopefully this season is just a single blemish and Eriksson is able to regain his confidence and work towards meeting the expectations that were bestowed upon him when he was drafted in 2018. June 2018 – Eriksson was drafted 44th overall by the Dallas Stars. Eriksson is a modern power forward who uses his size (6-4, 207) to protect the puck instead of punishing opposing players with physical play. He’s a very good skater for someone his size and he has a very good shot. He’s more of a goal-scorer but can also make plays. Discipline has been a bit of an issue, so that’s one area he needs to focus on – it was probably the reason he wasn’t selected to play at the U18 World Championship tournament. There’s a lot of upside but if his development is handled properly, he could become a really good top-six forward who also plays on the power play. Jokke Nevalainen
