Carsen Twarynski

June 2023 – Twarynski, a pending UFA, is likely an AHL grinder and sparse injury call-up for whichever team signs him in the offseason. He did manage 17 goals in 71 games, which tied him for sixth on the Coachella Valley Firebirds, so he isn’t without a nose for the net. Alex Wyatt

October 2021 – Twarynski was sent down on waivers as Seattle continues to pare down their roster. Alex Wyatt

July 2021 – Twarynski has been selected in the 2021 expansion draft and will join the Seattle Kraken organization. Dave Hall

September 2020 – Twarynski was seemingly hiding in plain sight through the 2019-2020 season. There were flashes of a good bottom-six player. He forechecked well and was adequate on the penalty kill. He is going to have to better earn his keep on the other side of the puck to move up the depth chart. Edric Joseph

August 2020 – For a fellow that was hailed as an offensive player, Carsen Twarynski underwhelmed this past season. He could really stand to gain from being a creator of circumstance rather than being a creature of it. To that end, his shot generation and possession play can only get better from here. Expect him to suit up for Lehigh Valley in the fall as a meaningful term with the Flyers seems improbable at this time. Edric Joseph

October 2019 – It took three games before Carsen Twarynski scored his first NHL goal in a 3-2 loss to Vancouver. He is expected to remain a bottom-six forward for the foreseeable future. That being said, his passing and his board play may help him better create something from relatively little, in an increased role, down the road. Edric Joseph

April 2018 – In light of his recent success with the Kelowna Rockets, Carsen Twarynski has been rewarded for his hard work with a stint with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms after his recent entry-level contract signing. The good news doesn’t stop there as he has two points through his first four games with the Flyers affiliate. He can be an offensive contributor if he keeps himself out of the penalty box. Edric Joseph

March 2018 – Carsen Twarynski is a name you would do well to remember going forward. It’s hard to find a player with his motor, skills and athletic tools. He has taken off like a rocket (no pun intended) in his first season with Kelowna and it shows. While he has been taking too many penalties from time to time this year, his hockey acumen still shines through regardless of where he is on the ice. Even though the on-ice success is coming easier to him these days, he still shows his grit and compete level consistently winning board scrums and treading lightly when taking popular routes to the goal with the puck in tow. Edric Joseph

July 2016 – At 6’2, 201 pounds, Carsen Twarynski fits the “Philadelphia mold” nearly perfectly. Carsen used his size and intensity to dominate opponents down low this past season, and inevitably climbed up the draft rankings after proving himself to be a physical force capable of providing offense for the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen. Though Carsen plays a physical, intimidating style, his 200-foot game is what makes him one of the most important players on the Hitmen roster. Carsen’s ability to defend passing lanes and willingness to block shots makes him an obvious choice to play in key defensive situations. The offensive side came easier to Twarynski in his second WHL season as he saw his numbers climb from 22 points (6 goals, 16 assists) in 14/15 to 45 points (20 goals, 25 assists) this past season. The 2016/17 season will be a big one for Carsen and the Hitmen, as he is expected to hit around sixty-plus points as he will see is ice time climb and his offensive role expand. At the NHL level, Carsen is a 3^rd/4^th liner who will likely be capable of 20-30 points per season. Skating is one area of Carsen’s game that will need to see improvement before he reaches the next level, however with another WHL season he should really be able to round out his game. Brennen York
