Fantasy Summary

Once a promising goalie prospect for the Coyotes, Langhamer is signed in the KHL for the next two-years.

July 2019- Langhamer just signed a two-year contract to play for Amur Khabarovsk in the KHL. Once a promising goalie prospect for the Coyotes, the team is deep with young goaltenders now and it seems Langhamer is no longer in their future plans. Keith Duggan

August 2018- Langhamer had a strong season in the Czech Extraliga league, serving as Marek Ciliak’s backup he posted a 6-3 record along with a 1.96 GAA and .925 save percentage. Even though Langhamer never appeared in any playoff games, his team also won the Czech Extraliga championship. A resricted free agent, the Coyotes made a qualifying offer to him but at already a 50 contract limit seems doubtful he’ll sign and will play in the Czech league once again. With several goalies now in the Coyotes system his NHL future seems murky at best right now. Keith Duggan

December 2017- With Adin Hill and Hunter Miska ahead of him on the depth chart in the AHL, the Coyotes assigned Langhamer to Komera Brno of the Czech Extraliga to get consistent starts. Assignment rather than release means he can return to North America at any time this season, including a possible playoff run in the AHL if needed. Stats wise Langhamer was having a good season putting up a 1-0-2 record with Tucson along with a 1.59 goals against average and a .947 save percentage. But he only appeared in three games in the AHL with Hill and Miska earning the majority of starts. Langhamer also appeared in one game with the Coyotes, coming on in relief stopping all 10 shots faced. While he could still have an NHL future it seems less likely now with this assignment. Keith Duggan

August 2017- The Coyotes have resigned Langhamer to a one-year, two-way contract. The netminder posted a 8-11-2 record with a .902 save percentage and 3.36 goals against average in 25 games with Tucson last season. When Adin Hill struggled in the second half of the season last year, Langhamer came on in relief and played well including a Tucson franchise record 50 saves in a 5-4 win on March 11th. He’ll have some competition in 2017-18 for playing time though as the Coyotes are suddenly deep in goal with Hill, Langhamer, Hunter Miska and minor league veteran Michael Houser signed to a one-way AHL contract, all going at it for two spots in Tucson. Keith Duggan

February 2017- With Louis Domingue day-to-day with a lower-body injury, the Coyotes decided to continue letting Adin Hill start in Tucson and recalled Marek Langhamer to back up Mike Smith, not expecting him to actually play. But on Feb. 20th in a game against Anaheim, Smith ended up leaving the game in the third period after getting hit by Jakob Silfverberg. Langhamer made his NHL debut and gave up only one goal, preserving a 3-2 win for the Coyotes including a spectacular last second save on Sami Vatanen. He’s played in the ECHL and AHL this season putting up similar numbers (.914 SV%/2.90 GAA in AHL, .913 SV%/2.72 GAA in ECHL). While this game is a feel good story for Langhamer, he’s still number four on Coyotes goalie depth chart and once Domingue returns he’ll be back in the AHL backing up Hill. Keith Duggan

July 2016- Marek Langhamer had a very strong season in the ECHL, posting great numbers with Rapid City (2.23 GAA, .935 SP) but struggled a little at the AHL level (3.80SP, .883 SP). Going into 2016-17 he will battle Adin Hill for the backup spot behind Justin Peters in Tuscon of the AHL. The Coyotes expect him though to be the number one goalie in Rapid City. Keith Duggan

March 2016- Marek Langhamer has been recalled to the Arizona Coyotes to backup Louis Domingue, switching places with Niklas Treutle after he struggled in his first start. Langhamer posted a 5-2-1 record with a .935 save percentage and 2.23 goals-against average with Rapid City of the ECHL, where he started the season before being recalled to Springfield of the AHL after Domingue was brought up to the NHL when Mike Smith was hurt. He carried a 6-6-1 record with a .885 save percentage and 3.52 goals-against average in 13 games with a weak Springfield squad. Even though his numbers aren’t great his play was coming along very strong right before the recall. The plan is to have Langhamer practice with the Coyotes and backup Domingue till Smith is ready to return from his injury. Keith Duggan

October 2015- Even though Marek Langhamer had a solid training camp in Arizona and Springfield of the AHL, with several more experienced goalies ahead of him, he’s been assigned to Rapid City of the ECHL to begin his pro career. Keith Duggan

June 2015- It was another solid season for Marek Langhamer, his final in the WHL. While his numbers were down from 2013-14, he played most of the year with a hip flexor injury. Langhamer posted a .902 SV% and a 2.81 GAA, 10th best in the league. In the playoffs though he picked up his game, only getting to the second round this season but posting excellent numbers. His 2.28 GAA was second best in the WHL playoff’s and .924 SV% fourth best. Also a fun fact, Langhamer was the last import goalie to play in the WHL. He’ll most likely begin 2015-16 in the ECHL, but keep an eye on him he’s a goalie on the rise. Keith Duggan

September 2014- With the Coyotes pretty deep in goal, Langhamer was reassigned back to Medicine Hat Tiger of the WHL. He is expected to play as the teams number one goalie this season as a overage player. Keith Duggan

May 2014- Langhamer signed a entry level contract on 5/7/14 with the Coyotes. He just finished a fantastic season where he starred for the Czech Republic in the WJC, came back and took over number one goalie duties for Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL, he was sharing goaltending duties prior to that, posting a 23-14-3 record. He finished seventh in the league in GAA with 2.58 and 10th in SV% a .913. Langhamer really starred in the playoff’s, helping the Tigers reach the WHL Eastern finals, really carrying his team at times with his outstanding goaltending. He finished the playoff’s with a 2.35 GAA and a .934 SV%. He has a uphill battle with several goalies in the Coyote system but don’t count Langhamer out. Keith Duggan

January 2014 – Langhamer had a very solid 2014 World Junior Tournament for the Czech Republic, highlighted by a 5-4 shootout win over Canada in group play. In five games he finished with a 2.95 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. While his play during the tournament helped his prospect stock rise, with Mike Smith signed through 2019 and several other goalies in the system, it’s still a question where he will fit in the organization and if the Coyotes will even sign him to an entry level deal. Keith Duggan

December 2013 – Marek Langhamer has been selected to play for the Czech Republic during the 2014 Under-20 World Junior Championship in Malmo, Sweden. The Czechs will have three goalies on their roster for the tournament but early indications are that Langhamer has the inside track to be the squad’s starting goalie. Langhamer is one of only three NHL drafted players on the young Czech team, which is not really expected to compete for a medal. After being drafted by the Coyotes in 2012, Langhamer came over to North America the following season to play for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. In his first season in southern Alberta he was the team’s backup goalie, and this season he has split duties with Daniel Wapple, but has the best stats of the two after 33 games played. He currently ranks sixth in the WHL with a 2.45 goals against average in 15 games, has save percentage of .916% and won nine games with a shutout. He has all the athletic tools but must find a way to accompany them with the little things in the game like positional play, staying square to the shooter, and offensive reads. Keith Duggan
