Hampus Gustafsson

June 2019 – Gustafsson did not get a qualifying offer from the Capitals becoming an unrestricted free agent. He had multiple attempts in Hershey to move up the line up but never made it past the fourth line. He will likely look to head back over seas. Pat Quinn

April 2019 – Gustafsson had three assists in 44 games for the Hershey Bears all but solidifying the fact that he will not be qualified come June. Pat Quinn

May 2018 – Gustafsson bounced between the AHL and ECHL posting mediocre numbers in both. In 29 AHL games he had seven points and in 29 ECHL games he had 12 points. It was his first full professional season outside of the NCAA and perhaps that could take some of the blame. He never posted the best numbers in the NCAA but he can be a solid checking line player and perhaps that is his future role. Pat Quinn

September 2017 – After four seasons in the NCAA for Merrimack College, Gustafsson signed an AHL deal for the remainder of the 2016-2017 season and only put up two assists in 14 games (regular season and playoffs) as he adjusted to the increased competition. In his four years for Merrimack Gustafsson never saw over a point per game, and hovered around the 0.68 mark for his final three seasons. He may be in line for a bottom six role with the Capitals this season, or if he does not make the team out of training camp (as there will be a lot of competition at the 2017 camp) he will develop in the AHL. Pat Quinn
